Less than 3 weeks to the start of that tour and no information regarding broadcast details on the Cricket Ireland social media or website… “Broadcast/livestream details will be advised in due course.” they tell us, but surely this close some information is known ?

Conor Olphert and Craig Young miss out due to injury apparently…

The Ireland Men’s T20I squad is:

Andrew Balbirnie (captain), Mark Adair, Ross Adair, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Stephen Doheny, Fionn Hand, Graham Hume, Tyrone Kane, Barry McCarthy, Neil Rock, Harry Tector, Ben White.

The Ireland Men’s ODI squad is:

Andrew Balbirnie (captain), Mark Adair, Curtis Campher, Gareth Delany, George Dockrell, Stephen Doheny, Graham Hume, Tyrone Kane, Josh Little, Andy McBrine, Barry McCarthy, Paul Stirling, Harry Tector, Lorcan Tucker.

Josh Little not selected for the T20s so he can play club cricket in the SA20 competition…. Hmmmmm not a good look when your national cricket governing body, flies you to SA and is paying your expenses only for you to duck out for half of it to play club cricket…

This is just going to be way of modern cricket nowadays with players leaving for the T20 tournaments and to be honest it's a great honour for Irish players as they can now make huge money elsewhere. Don't forget that Irish players have lost their county cricket contracts due to Ireland becoming a test side. We've got to look at it being that our players can improve in these T20 competitions and when the time comes for the real action they will have huge amounts of experience and know how behind them.

Super news as well today with Josh Little getting an IPL Contract! Gujarat Titans and Chennai Super Kings bid against each other for him and in the end he went for 4.4 crore to the Gujarat Titans which is close to $500,000 US Dollars. Fantastic for him and his family and also shows any youngsters around about how you get make a very good career from being a cricketer.

Nice deal for him. I read the other day that he had a bad experience as a net bowler for another team out there. Never even got a chance to show what he could do. He’s talented enough to get games in the IPL.

True gents, very true, but my concern would be, that precedent being the case now… what if other club teams want to bring in players too, could be 4/5 next time we tour…. Little getting the ok it would be difficult to refuse a few others…

then we might have to go to the expense of flying a squad of 24 over…

all the host countries teams will have to do is peruse the Irish squad list…
