Nothing heard here either. Very poor show by the DF in my opinion.

Would I be right in saying that those who applied for the Navy Cadetship would start sometime next week in Haulbowline and then join up with Army and Air Corps class on the 2nd of November in the curragh?

Has anyone tried to contact them recently ? I emailed them at the start of the week and heard nothing back.

Yeah I emailed the secretary myself early last week. Didn’t get a response.

Another week rolls by without any word 🙄

Wishing the very best of luck to the lads and ladies starting in the Curragh tomorrow.

Only six months or so until the circus starts again for the rest of us 😂

Personally I think its very poor show that we all made it the full way through the application process, and received no word.

I understand that we may not have been offered a place in the starting class, but either a “hi, at this time all first place offers have been made for the starting class, however you have been placed on a list and may receive an offer if places become available in the coming weeks” or an “unfortunately we will no be continuing with your application at this time. Thanks for your interest”

At least we could all have stopped stressing over it and gotten on with our lives.

I know two lads who made it in this year, and I am delighted for them, but they received their offers in the 2nd week of September. 2 Months later and the DF have left the rest of us in the dust without a word.

I have to say, I am not impressed with the Organisation at all right now.

14th is the last day for taking in cadets I’m told. Keep the heads up, looked like a small class last week I doubt it was all 3 branches.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3 A Donner Kebab

I wish that was true but thats actually all 3 Branches, theres only I believe 8 aircorps and 5 navy according to my mates.

Tiny class this year theyre saying though yes

Jesus that is poor. So much for a recruitment problem

Anyone else thinking of joining as a recruit or am I mad?

    No, youre not mad.

I’ve thought about it, enlist, apply for cadets as you do training/serve as a 3 star - get the extra points.

Worst case, If you never manage to get a place, only 5 Years - can leave after still fulfilling dream of serving in the army ( to an extent anyway)

I’ve ultimately decided to stay at my job though, as I’m possibly looking at a promotion from floor manager to an assistant manager position in the very near future.

According to their army cadet podcast, officers are the managers of the defence forces so, I’m just praying the that its the right choice for next year.

Ultimately you need to do what you think will give you the best leg up for next year, relative to where you are in your life now.

If thats enlisted, go for it.
