Reliable Tractor - 15k ideas?

That budget is tight. You will need someone to check out any tractor you are interested in. Expect to spend a couple of thousands after you buy it.

A Massey or a NH much better than those.

Not the type of NH or Massey that would be in that price range. They are an uncomplicated tractor. There's a 4L Perkins engine in them. I am not sure is it a 16 or 24 speed box in them. The first of the Mccormick CX's were basically the old Case CX's.

Like any tractor the proviso is that it's a straight tractor. Often lads when they go to look at a tractor will try to check with the owner is it straight. It's often just as important to check of the dealer has a good record.

The tractor looks clean inside but there is no photos up.. I would like to know if it's a new seat in it but generally you will get an idea from the rest of the cab.

The tractor and is capable of lifting two bales at the back. It seems to have done a nice bit of rear end work. It's actually 2-3k cheaper than I would have expected so if you were buying checking it would be important.

Young lad drove one on a farm in Australia. There was two McCormicks doing all the work on a 6k sheep and 100 cow suckler farm. Owner was mad about them

I agree, however either the bonnet had a professional job done, is replaced or is in very good condition.

As I said the back end is not touched. Like any tractor you need to check it out. As I said it's 2-3 less than I would expected so that's a reason for concerns as well. But if it's straight it's as good value as anything you will come accross

A lot of NH you would be buying for 3-4 k more would be Ford, Fiat or similar rebadged with a NH cab. Most NH you be buying would be late nineties. The McCormick above is a Mccormick upgrade from the original CX. The back end has changed from the old International back end.

If you were buying a Massey you be nearly looking at a 2 series. That McCormick has a power shuttle as well.

The gears are better set up than earlier NH.

I have a CX 90 a f it a grand tractor. It's manual shuttle. It will only lift one bale at the back. No problem with one on the loader. The BIL has a 390 that cost the same money. No comparison between tractors maintenance, use or comfort wise.

Which is the most comfortable? 390 or cx90

Bass, that only applies if it is not the low profile version on the Case/McCormick. Not a better oven would you find on a hot day than a low profile version of them!

cx90 is really only a case 4230 with a new suit. The gear layout is the same and has that horrible dual gearstick's. Cab wise the cx is way ahead in comfort, but you are comparing it to a 390 which must have the most cramped horrible cab ever.

Hard really to find any tractor in that price range that isn't old and well used. I don't think the 390's are value for money. All the Renaults are, and at that budget you should get one in good nick. Some smashing Renaults to be got in that price range once you can get over the unusual brand

This is what you want. Provided it's as tidy as it looks in the advert, you won't find better value for money. They're a bit basic, but have a sweet gearbox with no electrics and great traction. This one is a PX, so Perkins engine, which I haven't experienced. I spent many hours on an MX (MWM engine), which is one of the very best tractors I ever drove.

The Case/early McCormick CX's had a mechanical shuttle and an electric lift, the 4230 had neither. The Mccormick CX 105 has an electric shuttle and strong lift. It's a 2003/4 redesign. It also has a stronger lift than earlier CX tractors.

I use the the gear set up and find them functional. One gear stick has 1-4 and the other has hi/ lo function. The earlier 42 series had 1-3 and R on one stick do the CX is a fairly decent upgrade.

Those Renault are grand tractors. There is a few issues. Some parts can be hard got and you need a mechanic fimilar with them. If there is one in the locality that is familiar with them they are a good buy.
