If you or a loved one suffers from MAGA consult your family doctor

    "Bye?"

    ***

Chairman Raskin is back on the media circuit this Sunday, following his leave for a family tragedy.

Tinseltown is eager to get hard evidence on precisely which (*if any) Republicans sought pardons from Trump.

And apparently he has a laptop or something. It's a pity people have so much trouble finding stuff to attack Biden's character directly. Trump was better that way.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 86,683 ✭✭✭✭Overheal

There's a Hunter Biden thread and a Joe Biden thread each; it's telling when nothing is said actually about Trump in his own thread when MAGA tries do deny deflect and gaslight for the seditionist weasel.

If you want to actually attack either Biden in good faith there are better places to do it. You're not defending Trump, you're evidencing how weak his political movement is these days.

Cheney is catching a fair amount of **** from her own party for pointing out a few unfortunate truths. Being Republican royalty means nothng to the MAGAs.

And what, pres tell, has that got to do with Trump?

How likely is it that The Chump could be in jail by 2024?

    Not likely at all.

I watched Trump make his January 6th speech live and sat there shaking my head as he continued to confidently assert that the election was stolen, despite almost every legal challenge made be thrown out of court. Never in the history of modern western politics do I remember seeing anything like it, and for a sitting U.S. president to whip up a crowd of angry supporters with that kind of completely unfounded, inflammatory bilge of the absolute highest order would have been utterly, utterly unimaginable 20 years prior.

The idea that you would need all this procedure to prove something about Trump is proof, to me, that he won't face consequences, because just what he did on the day that's undeniably on tape was bad enough and should be actionable by itself. A reckless and borderline treasonous action he took that day. Trump is no dummy, though he acts like one to appeal to the dummies. He couched that word 'peacefully' as if he didn't know exactly what he was doing. He knew damn well what he was doing. If the thought of violence never entered his head, he wouldn't have made such an effort to really stress that word one time.... and then back to seditious, baseless conspiracy theory for the MAGA morons. He knew what he was doing.

But the other reason he won't face consequences is that even if you could prove his involvement on the technical level apparently required, throwing him in jail makes him a political martyr. Trump knows anything done to him just stokes the anger of the American alt-right and gun-toting militia types, who are the biggest domestic threat in the USA right now.

I hope Trump runs n 2024, so we can see him lose again

Highly unlikely - Certainly not for anything related to January 6th.

Really really hard to see federal charges being brought against him given the political impact. I do think that some in his orbit could be in trouble though - Navarro, Eastman , Meadows and a few others could find themselves in real trouble.

There is a decent enough chance that Trump gets convicted in NY for his dodgy tax/property dealing.

He won't get jail-time but could end up losing most/all of his assets , certainly I can see an outcome where the "Trump Corporation" is wound up and he and the family are barred from holding corporate office ever again along with huge fines.

The political aspect is even more reason to lock him up. Otherwise the next guy along might try the same thing knowing that there wont be any possibility of real consequences.

I totally understand and agree with your point from a normal perspective , but the environment there is so utterly toxic and thus far Garland has been massively conservative in his decisions.

Unless there is something utterly and completely irrefutable to charge him with I really can't see it.

The risk of charging him and then losing would be enormous - As the saying goes "if you take the shot , you'd better be absolutely sure you kill him"

I can't imagine that Trump's activities since the last election will have endeared him to the independent swing voters that he needs in order to win an election. Saying that, Biden isn't exactly Mr Popular either. One thing that is certain is that if Trump is re-elected, that's the end of the US as a democracy. He'll purge anyone and everyone that's not devoted to him and would probably just appoint his own successor at that stage.

You are looking in the wrong place. Trump is not looking to win over voters, they are focused on removing those voters that voted Biden last time. If they can keep the same number and reduce the number voting for Biden (or whomever the Dem candidate is) they win.

They are not interesting in winning the popular vote.

The testimony today, all from former Trump affiliates, set out how the big lie was a grift to take money off of people too stupid to know they were being swindled.

The only reaction from 45 so far....

I saw a bit of this when I got home today and the way they had the committee questioners(on video) ask one question and have the various witnesses answer all lined up was very well done. It’s a very effective way of telling the story that people can understand.

That, I imagine, more that anything else will be the one thing that should hit home with his fans. They can argue about the Dems, woke, PC, drain the swamp etc, but seeing Trump simply swindle them of their own money should hit a nerve. Of course anyone paying attention already knew it, but could this be the straw that breaks the camel?

I doubt it myself, it seems that nothing will dissuade them from their belief. Because that is what it is. The believe that Trump is almost some sort of prophet, that whatever he does is right. Just watched a Netflix show about he FLDS religious cult, and their believe in the leader despite jail etc. Trump seems to be on the same level in terms of his followers

Yeah, a lot of these snippets of public video, the average joe could have followed over the course of 2020, but in general, it's pretty damning to see the whole sequence of events, incl. Trumps summertime warnings that an election that hadn't even started was already 'rigged'

It's going to be a thrilling source of video clips for months.

Graphics like this work well too with his base. Like Trump himself, they need things broken down for them.....

    Amazing isn't it.

2 days of undeniable testimony disclosing a grift to swindle *his own supporters* of $250,000,000 and there isn't a single poster left on this forum prepared to argue against that assertion or defend him.

    It's just accepted as fact.

No condemnation, no shock, no disgust, no embarrassment... Nothing.

When he was "owning the libs", oh how they laughed. Good oul Trump sticking it to who deserved it. Who cares if he was lying and people were outraged. They must have "Trump derangement syndrome". Tough **** lads lol.

Now it turns out, he was owning his supporters. Playing them for fools, lying to their face and stuffing his pockets. Their saviour was a charlatan.

They were warned - dozens of folks were burned by him, people who showed them loyalty were discarded, but his supporters didn't see that as an issue, it wouldn't happen to them though, right?

    Well, now it has.

Trump has nothing but contempt for them.

They were a means to an end.

His supporters here, if any are left reading this thread, probably will just shrug of the shoulders perhaps? Nothing else though.

Looks like Radio Bullshit has finally gone off air.

They're waiting on the next "Hunter Biden reportedly..." talking point to be revealed before they can come back to this thread.

"LOOK OVER THERE!" works best when there's actually something to point to, however small or irrelevant.

And to top it off , the Trump extended family paid themselves to appear at the January 6th protest!!

Kimberly GuilfoyleDonald Trump Jr.’s fiancée and a former adviser to his father’s re-election bid, got paid $60,000 for her two-minute speech at the Stop the Steal rally that preceded the attack on the Capitol, according to one of the members of the January 6th Committee.

All this has ever been is a grift - No more , no less.

The Trump Campaign emails just get more and more hilarious too. According to one from Don Jr last night, he just spoke with his father who informed him that I have now reached "GREAT MAGA KING STATUS" for my continued support.

What's strange though is that I have to make a donation in order to verify my GREAT MAGA KING STATUS. You'd have thought GREAT MAGA KING's would be exempt from such requests....
