If you're a soldier in the cork or limerick barracks can you try an be a ranger or do you need to be in the Curragh Camp?

Can you join at 21 years old or do you need to be 30+?

May I suggest 2 books for you.

    1. Ranger 22 by Ray Goggins.
    2. Shadow Warriors by Paul O'Brien and Wayne Fitzgerald.

Everything you need to know is found either there or on www.military.ie

Anyone in the Defence Forces can apply to join the ARW, but for now, once they pass selection, they must live in the general Newbridge & Curragh area.

I presume you watch Hell Week on RTE? If you don't you should. All the instructors are Ex ARW, none were based in the Curragh before joining the ARW.

There used to be a strong Cork contingent there.

Re: those books, my 12yr old son is mad about irish history, politics and military in general.

Would those books be suitable reading for a 12yr old?

    Shadow Warriors yes.

Ranger 22 is not for me to judge. You are the parent.
