Thanks. Really good suggestions there. Genuinely - many I agree with (the wire is definitely up there as my number one with west wing) and some I will watch over the coming weeks. And the queens gambit was worth a few months Netflix subscription.

    I'll preface this with I'M OLD ok ? ☺️

    1 Kind Hearts and Coronets.

This was a complete tour de force by Alec Guinness but he was well supported by the rest of the cast too. It's hands down my favourite of the Ealing comedies. Also, I have a soft spot for it because Guinness was the very spit of my Da, so much so that his cronies used call him Sir Alec :)

2 The 39 Steps. 1935 with Robert Donat.

A rollicking good story that absolutely captivated me when I first saw it 50 years or so ago.

    3 The Searchers.

John Wayne was a difficult watch in this as our attitudes have changed so much since then but he was so compelling. As is the theme of redemption.

    4 Some Like It Hot.

I've mentioned this one on another thread. It was Jack Lemmon being hysterically funny next to Marilyn being utterly mesmerising.

    5 Spirited Away.

Superb animation by Studio Ghibli. It blew me away on the first viewing; visually stunning and totally unforgettable.

Nicholon my favourite actor... the lunatic... i had to google director... what did he do...

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,453 ✭✭✭sam t smith

He pleaded guilty and was convicted of ‘unlawful sexual intercourse with a minor’ for drugging and raping a 13 year old in the late 70’s, then he fled the US before sentencing as he learnt that the judge had decided the sentence in the plea deal was too lenient.

He has been a fugitive from justice ever since.

Best film series, Terminator films, after the amazing first 2 films I see the rest of the series as fan made films

Best tv series, Game of thrones. The high points of the series are still a tier above all other tv shows. The ending though deserves all the hate it gets.
