Multi Species Sward Measure

On top of that, is it not fairly useless sowing red and white clover together? Red for meadow, white for pasture. There wont be a lot of scenarios where both thrive

Red clover starts fixing N sooner than white, so the sward can tolerate zero artificial N from an earlier stage post establishment. As the white takes off (which it will do much better in the absence of fertilizer) it will come to dominate, but the red will have done its job by that stage. So goes the thinking anyway, and I would be inclined to agree from what I've seen on a few farms.

Can red clover be stitched in as such with out ploughing? Have a field would like to do but not plough.

I see YouTube video where it’s spread with fertiliser spreader along with 0-7-30 and then rolled as an option also. I am guessing that is a cheap option but may not lead to great establishment.

I think I will stitch in 7 acres after silage is cut and follow with slurry a week later. Read that slurry if anyway heavy can case the seed and prevent establishment.

I'm guessing this is the plantain starting to show. Grass is just about starting to peep also. A drop of rain now would do wonders I'd say

It's a small enough sample so hard to know, but it only got around 40 units of nitrogen to the acre last year and slurry once and I got 8 grazing off it with the cows..then dung after closing.

I haven't noticed any benefits in terms of litres of milk or protein like some people have, if anything I felt they dropped off a little on it.

The grass got very scarce and hungry looking in the dry time last year but the clover and herbs grew, but I don't think there was the quantity of feed in the field then, I don't measure here so don't have accurate figures or anything to back that up.

Is there a lot of Dock in that or is it something else?.......

Chicory and plantain mostly but there are some docks appearing this year, I think there are a couple in that picture..

Multi species putting in a little effort

I be trying to keep on top of the docks with a bit of spot spraying. A quad sprayer would cover some ground. The ones to watch for are hen you get groups together as they smother everything else

Yea, something was mentioned when I applied, I think it is the parcel selection.

Just remember it had to be done by/on 16th May.
