Quite enjoyed the first episode. Some humour and conflict and dealing with the TV brass. She's savvy and surefooted.

Of course, there's a podcast for it.

Sarah Lancashire is playing a blinder! She is unreal in it. Love seeing Bebe Neuwirth and David Hyde Pierce back together again too.

    What?

Only got to through the 1st 3 episode, was interested from a television point of view, how the show was made etc etc and if you want to take a look at early TV and early PSB in the US it is quite interesting.

However, I would have though Mr. and Mrs. Child's run in with the American authorities while posted as diplomats in Europe might have been a better story to tell. This is briefly mentioned in the first few episode, perhaps they look at this again later in the series but it was an off putting series.

the word "ally" would not have been used in that sense until relatively recently, she could have asked for support and/or help. Her GP's dismissal of her menopause was really OTT, perhaps this did happen to other women but was this a big issue for Mrs. Child (she died at the good old age of 91)? Again perhaps it is explored later in the series.

Sarah Lancaster is well cast in the role, casting is excellent. But I just want to see the next series of Happy Valley.
