    Not bad ... not bad.

With Disney+ I take it as it comes, some people get very angry about the new stuff, but I try and take the rough with the smooth.

It's new content , some of it is great, some is crap.

    Same with the films.

    Ep 7 - Great

    Rogoe 1 - Great

    Ep 8 Disaster

    Han Solo - watchable

Ep 9 not bad considering the crap he had to clear up with 8 ...

    Mandalorian - Great

Boba Fet - Very Decent (with pockets of shyte) so far ...

And a series of Obi Wan to come ... back in 2005 when Ep3 was supposed to be the end of all Star Wars ... I would have jumped at the above.

Episode 7 is great ? And Abrams had to clean up crap in 9 ?

please - 7 is just unoriginal fanwank that copied the originals and robbed from the old EU books and overfilled with rubbish Easter eggs . It is Johnston that was burdened with crap to clean but he shouldn’t have even tried - he should have just quit but at least he went against the fan ****. He might have made a good original movie but no one could do anything with those useless characters and a garbage storyline. Episode 9 is muck.

Spice has been a part of Star Wars since the beginning. Yes it is taken from Dune as far as I know.

You know what it is so don’t call it a cow thing. ;) they showed him feeding it. Maybe it doesn’t eat a lot or can make it last like a camel

why do you think the rancor isn’t happy? It was born in captivity so doesn’t know anything else plus it bonded with Fett so it is loyal to him. They feed like any other animal - it has a carer and they have wealth to supply more food than they need

Great episode with a lot going on.

Explained how he had been able to save Fennec, the raid on the Palace, the encounter with the Sarlacc and why Fett needed the bacta

Pius the bar “brawl” !!! We all made the same noise As the onlookers when the Kransten pulled off the arm :0 - it can grow back apparently depending on the Trandoshan’s age

Beal had a good scene there too

Poor Boba - is he ever going to be able to get to sit down for a drink at the Sanctuary? ;)

and is there anyone who didn’t know that ended with the announcement that they are sending for Mando? I think they’ll hire Mayfield too and I hope we get to see a few alien mercs take the gig.

the action in the two Rodriquez episode has not great quality while the other two episodes were great

In the two fights there are moments the actors move really slow like try haven’t been told what to do

and the chase scene was odd - the bikes and speeder car moved too slow and they speeder wobbled a few times

I wonder what the story is there becasue I would thought that Rodriquez was well used to action

That Guardian peice was spot on for me.

Temuera Morrison who I really like is 30 years to late to play Boba now and bringing Boba back foucsing a full show on him was a mistake for me. When they brought him back they should have kept him as a cameo star and under the helmet.

The young Once Were Warriors Morrison is the kind of actor that should be under the helmet he had scary intimidating down not an 61 year old man who looks his age and wouldn't scare or intimidate anyone.

I didn’t read what you referring to but I don’t care about his age. I’d rather have Morrison at the wrong age than for them to have a Boba Fett who never takes off the helmet for no reason.

They’ve overdone that on Mando already.

Morrison is fierce looking when he is beating people with his gaffi stick but where did you get the idea that that Bobs Fett is supposed to be scarey or intimidating ? He wasn’t scarey or intimidating in the movies - he was just cool to look at.

Jake The Muss isn’t scarey or intimidating to look at either - …

which was kind of the point because you don’t see it coming.

They made a point on several occasions that people are not scared of him - it is an obstacle in the story that he has to overcome.

I really do not need to be seeing a 60 odd year old man half naked covered in slime.

It's one of the biggest problems of the show. One of many.

  • Registered Users Posts: 32,803 ✭✭✭✭NIMAN

I found that episode average again, despite many more enjoying it here.

As a series it simply ain't doing it at all for me. I'll stick with it cos it's Star Wars, but it is on a level of the 1st3 films for me.

I'm sure you'd have no problem seeing Ming-Na Wen that way and she's nearly the same age.

I enjoyed this episode for the most part. It really is the Star Wars version of Game of Thrones in that even when that show was at its height, you'd still get the slow episodes setting everything up. One thing though, while it was fine and appropriate to use the Mandalorian music when Fett sees the fire fight that nearly killed Shand bringing it back at the end of the episode sort of killed any speculation about where Fett is going next. I mean if you are going to use that music cue, at the very least have the Razor crest fly through the scene.

Thought ep4 was way better, maybe because there was more Star Wars cannon.

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,822 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

    Yeah. I'm kinda done.

The "mods" (fuck me...SMH) destroyed Ep.3, but the reality is is that there's just not enough good to offset the bad in this. Ep.4 may have been slightly better than Ep.3, but fk'n 'ell, that was a low bar that it had to leap over. That whole techo opening with Thundercat the "doctor"...WTF was that? That was, probably, one of the most un Star Wars things that I've ever seen.

And seriously, Boba Fett is absolutely useless in this show. Shand, literally, has to do everything for him. She had to bail him out of his fight with the Wookie, she has to finish his sentences, she has to move things along in his "negotiations". She even had to bomb the Sarlacc because Fett was clueless as to what to do next after hovering his ship above its maw (Who the hell came up with that crap?)

And how the fuck would she even know what that button did?

This is just bloody awful stuff. People can try and make excuses for this all day long, but it's not working.

@flazio I'm sure you'd have no problem seeing Ming-Na Wen that way and she's nearly the same age.

We never saw Shand before this series. So her age doesn't matter.

Morrison's age, on the other hand does, because he's supposed to be a continuation of the mid 30's guy in his prime that we saw in 'Return of the Jedi' and, clearly, he's not.

Was there not some bit in the whole clone story that meant Fett would age quicker, or am I imagining that?

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,822 ✭✭✭✭Tony EH

No. I think he ages slower...cos he's not like other  ̷g̷u̷y̷s̷ clones.

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,727 ✭✭✭✭CastorTroy

In Attack of the Clones Obi Wan is told Jango asked for a clone that would age normally that he could raise as a son.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,473 ✭✭✭✭Varik

In the old eu he'd been early 30s but those numbers never felt right with how much older obiwan was in a new hope, and how much they crammed into the clone wars which was only 4 years.

Age isn't really a problem, if the training is there; Ming-Na Wen is in her late 50s but has good experience with fight choreography and action shooting. It also helps that she looks easily 10 years younger, whatever dark pact it was she signed to ensure her good genes. Or more famously you have the likes of Keanu Reeves - or lately, Bob Odenkirk - both men in their late 50s but their respective films ensured the men were trained and capable of shooting the action-intensive scenes. And of course you got Liam Neeson, the king of "gerryaction", even if his films tend less towards hand-to-hand combat.

In the case of Boba Fett, either Temura Morrison hasn't had the pre-production training, or the director & 2nd Unit haven't a clue how to shoot action - and given Robert Rodriguez is involved, it's possibly both.

You can say what you want about the show, but Morrison is one of the worst actors I have seen in a big show for a long time.

He makes the crowd in Fair City look like Oscar nominees.

Chapter 4 back to Chapter 1/2 levels - lack of crap space-vespa chases being the main improvement.

The stealing back the spaceship section was fun once it got going. Noted Fennec's doubt over how easily the Tuskens were vanquished. Initial tie-in with Mandarlorian timeline/story surprisingly subtley done.

I don't mind a bit of fan service when its a subtle background activity or prop but I thought the bar/casino fight scene was clumsy. Han mentions in 1977 that wookies have been known to tear people's arms off so we get a long scene of a psychotic wookie attacking a bunch of gamblers for no discernible reason culminating in aforementioned arm removal which Boba I'm-off-to-be seen-restoring-peace-to-the-streets Fett just ignores? Did I miss something?

I am beginning to think I'd have preferred to see the story told linearly instead of having these extra-long flash-backs. I think it would all appear to move along at a better pace. Instead we are getting two storylines being dragged out unnecessarily.

The shows problem is that rather then just make a Boba show to begin with , they went and made the Mandalorian and gave him all of Bobas characteristics, ie. Hardly ever speaks, never takes the helmet off . And thus they had to completely change Boba when they introduced him to contrast with Mando.

The show was also hamstrung by the way they set up the book of Boba Fett on Mando by having him kill Bib Fortuna and taking Jabbas throne immediately. The series should have seen Boba return to Tatooine and start doing jobs for the various competing crime Lords competing over jabbas turf. Have him using his smarts to set them against eachother, weakening them so he can clean house and Earn Jabbas throne and their respect by seasons end .

I thought it was weird the way they threw that potentially 'big monent' away in the trailer. Even just from the point of view of having a potentially major character drawn directly from ROTJ...

Just saw the trailer for Obi Wan ... Could it actually be good !!!

    McGregor and Christensen !! 😮

"We couldn't tell the story of Obi-Wan Kenobi without addressing Anakin or Vader".

    Yes, you absolutely could've.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,087 ✭✭✭eviltimeban

It's not really a trailer though is it? Just the cast and crew talking and some concept art.

I assume they'll have to shoe in some shots of Vader without his helmet on, so we can see that it's actually Hayden C in there after all!

I started watching this earlier and I can’t help feel that I’m missing something.

At first I thought it was some kind of Mad Max post-apocalyptic show but then there was robots and there was aliens (I assume aliens and not mutated people.

is this Earth in the future or is is another planet?

    What age would you prefer?

I've described it as "F+F try to do Game of Thrones in the Star Wars universe." In this case Jabba the Hutts throne is "The Iron Throne" and all matter of politics are taking place as to who owns what.
