The worst part of that is he has been in this state for over 4 years and he has still been playing football and taking hits. If that is what is going on then there are some very serious questions to be asked of the teams who took him in and how they medically evaluated him. Most likely his talent level overruled any other concerns.

He is clearly not right and for his own sake it would be better if he never suits up again.

NFL teams needs to take a big lesson from what is happening with him but I really doubt they will.

CTE can’t be diagnosed in somebody that is still living so it’s difficult for the NFL to intervene in a case like this. It’s just as likely he is bipolar and is in the middle of a manic episode. I have first hand experience of this with an extended family member and the pattern of AB’s behaviour would be similar with periods of exemplary conduct mixed with completely bonkers off the rail stuff that makes absolutely no sense to a sane person.

Something is definitely not right in any case and it has to be a mental health issue. Hope he gets some help

This is quite scary - reasonable to say that Jalen Hurts could have been killed or career-ended if he'd been a step further on/left.

Mike Garafolo on Twitter: "#Eagles QB Jalen Hurts was sacked only once during today’s game. Almost had a second on his way to the locker room. https://t.co/WwBE5pXaxO" / Twitter

Thankfully he and the fans are okay but the Washington football team statement I found a bit short of the mark.

Yeah, it's curt enough (at the bottom of the article linked below). I'd guess it was framed with legal concerns - don't apologize or do anything that approaches accepting responsibility as that could be held against you when the injury claims come in.

Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts avoids injury after a handful of fans fall out of FedEx Field stands near him (inquirer.com)

    To Whom It May Concern:

I am writing to inquire about what follow-up action is being considered in response to the near-tragic incident that took place at FedEx Field on January 2, 2022. As you are aware, many individuals, including fans, media personnel, and myself, were placed in a dangerous situation when portions of the FedEx Field tunnel collapsed. Although I was able to prevent the barrier from crashing onto me, that was not the same for others who could be suffering from lingering injuries.

Through the initial shock, my first reaction was to assist those involved. However, while I displayed a calm composure, I understand the severity of what happened and am extremely concerned for the well-being of the fans and media. As a result, I would like to know what safeguards the NFL and the Washington Football Team are implementing to prevent this from ever occurring in the future.

The resources of the NFL and team organizations ensure our safety through playin this physical sport, but what happened on Sunday put both fans and players unnecessarily at risk long after the final whistle. I looking forward to hearing from you on this matter.

    Sincerely,

    Jalen Hurts

Jalen hurts wrote a letter to the WFT about the incident that happened last Sunday after the game when a railing in the tunnel collapsed(from a picture I’ve seen the railings are tied together with cable ties) and asked what will be done about it. Fair play to him and at least it wasn’t as **** a response as the one the team gave. Unfortunately, given who owns the team nothing will be done.

The NFL are reportedly looking at alternate sites for the super bowl should SoFi stadium not hold the game due to Covid rules, with one site being AT&T stadium in Dallas. Maybe I’m wrong but I kind of always assumed that there was always a back up site available should the need arise for whatever reason. I know they’ve swapped stadiums scheduled to host the game years in advance but I don’t think they’ve ever switched one this close if they have to.

That is some response from Antonio Brown

Thanks s some response from AB. I find it hard to believe him but he claims he has texts etc. If he does then this is awful.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,737 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

And again it’s everyone else’s fault but ABs. The extreme pain he was in as he claims seemed to subside quickly as he was doing jumping jacks across the end zone in MetLife stadium on Sunday.

The guy needs to grow up and get help, and the people around him need to think of his well being and not what perks they get by being around him.

Antonio brown has been released by the Tampa Bay buccaneers.

Man's going to have a hard time once he's to old to play football

Interesting now that BA is claiming Brown's strop on the sideline was due to targets, not ankle pain.

This could be very easily cleared up by NFL films if BA was telling the truth, just like the Brady vs Honeybadger crap from the SB.

The longer it takes for someone to come forward to back up BA's account the more it looks like AB may be the one telling the truth...

Simply no way to know if it is CTE but there are plenty of other justifiable explanations, from other mental issues to just being a spoiled diva. I don't think it is at all a coincidence that Brown's recent actions escalated when Arians folded on his initial claims of a '1 strike and he's out' approach with Brown to saying they'd welcome him back after Brown lied to him and his whole team and put them all at risk with his fake COVID card.

Bucs are getting exactly what they deserve with this distraction for letting Brown in their door, like every team has learned.

So you’d think even AB despite a loose canon would have nice things to say about Tom Brady but you should never get your hopes up. There’s a possibility he’s got CTE about it’s more likely he’s a narcissistic dickhead who believes his talent allows him to act like a complete twat to anyone. Hopefully he’s never seen in the league ever again.

And yet, Tampa Bay will have got exactly what they wanted out of him. Helped them win a Super Bowl and helped them win the division en route to the playoffs again this year. I don't think they'll have any regrets.

A lot of people that have had CTE at an advanced level tended to become more of recluses and suffer from depression, at least from what I've heard anyway. AB is so cocky and outgoing, and seems to crave the spotlight even still. I'm not saying he doesn't have it, but from my zero phycological expertise, I'd imagine his mental issues isn't predominantly that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,467 ✭✭✭Blut2

AB has been completely mental even back to his college days - having scholarships rescinded due to his behaviour etc. None of this is remotely new, or out of character for him.

He may well have CTE, but that likely won't 'hit' for quite a few more years. This is in all probability just his pre-existing insanity.

Hes a really good case in point that if you're talented enough teams will overlook so much.

Flores out as the biggest shocker so far.

Yep surprised at that. Back to back winning seasons. Finished this season 8-1 last 9 games

Gutted that Flores is gone. Was doing a good steady job..

I can only think it's because he drafted Tua ahead of Herbert.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,349 ✭✭✭✭Foxtrol

Apparently he had been clashing with the GM all season so one had to go and Grier had more sway being with the team longer. Probably means no Watson to Dolphins as Flores was a big pull on him wanting to go there so they'll be sticking with Tua.

Biggest shocker is that 'clown show' Judge hasn't been booted out the door already.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 41,737 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

If joe judge was safe before yesterday that QB sneak on 3rd and 9 should give the giants a reason to fire him. Forget teams and rivalries for a second but any HC who allows that crap to happen should be shown the door.

Toddy is the 20th anniversary of the tuck rule game between the then Oakland raiders vs the New England patriots.

So we are getting a bank holiday the first Monday in February from 2023 onwards. Unfortunately with the 17th game that means its the week between the championship game and the superbowl.

So close to being a perfect setup for 49ers fans.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 41,927 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

I'm not sure that 17th game will last. It's a huge disadvantage to the no.2 seeds in the conference. If you happened to see both second seeds fare badly in the Championship I can that being the start of a big push to go back to 16 games.

I don't see why we need a 17th regular season game anyways. And I don't see how two extra playoff teams adds any extra excitement either.

    I don't see how a 17th game is a disadvantage to the 2nd seed?

The 17th game is here to stay. And an 18th will follow before too long. The extra wildcard game isn't going away either. More games means more money and that's the primary concern for owners.
