With restrictions increasing - is anyone worried we are going to have another covid19 impacted year of golf?

I really hope not, don't see any reasonable excuse for stopping a sport that is played at distance and in the open air. Wouldn't put it past them though

If golf Ireland and sport Ireland do their jobs correctly we shouldn't have anything to worry about

I can’t see it, it’s outdoor activity. I don’t see them going to that level of lockdown again. If they leave restaurants open how could they close a golf course.

They may impose a level 4 type of restriction where intercounty travel will be banned. They wont want people meeting or socialising as a trip to golf club could be people sharing cars or using facilities before and after etc. At my clubs AGM the other night the possibility was mentioned and what to do from a membership standpoint if the worst comes to the worst. The club had been in contact with Golf union of Ireland. My advice is enjoy some golf over christmas and dont worry about something you cant control into the future.

Cant see the courses being closed. Governments and clinicians will have to consider whether they are now on the edge of diminishing returns ie reintroducing restrictions that by and large the elimination/reduction of which where accomplished through the carrot dangling of "Get yisser vaccinations" People may now begin to question now why bother cos i am still going to be locked down? thus making the further spread of this and other possible variants a self fulfilling prophecy. I have had it, had the two Vacs, me flu vac and the booster and i cant get a large cod and chips after the battle cruiser shuts at 12 bells "ah here Mick ask me Hoop"

    No way they'll close golf.

I imagine i've said this a few times before, so never say never with this shower.

Think there's a different attitude now to outdoor stuff, they don't seem as concerned by it. So I think golf will be ok, indoor sport could be another matter

If there is a lockdown of other sports golf will go too

Outdoors or indoors it doesn't matter

    They won't single golf out

No I think there would be a difference

Likes of rugby, soccer, gaa , golf be fine and limited attendance

Something like basketball would be under pressure I reckon

There's no chance if they stop one sport they will be bothered trying to justify not stopping golf

It will be down to individual sports only from level 3, and it would be at least level 3 as the others are pointless
