How does everyone find Christmas without children?

Myself and my boyfriend split and go to our parents houses for dinner on the day. I might swing up to his in the morning since we're all local and he'll see my family around the day too. I like being able to be the fun aunty giving presents to my nieces and nephews.

I've got tickets to the Wonder lights in Malahide and I'll be going to that with family. I sometimes catch a panto because my boyfriend often plays in one of the musicals band.

Some people think you don't get the same magic of Christmas if you haven't got children but I still love this time of year. The decorations, films, feeling in the air! I used to love Christmas Eve in the pub getting drunk with my friends but now they've got kids that doesn't happen. I don't really mind this changing now because I'd rather not be hungover as hell on Christmas Day.

I love Christmas and it has nothing to do with any children!

I love the family get togethers, the friends meeting up, the twinkle lights, the markets, the different concerts and choirs, the dinners, the drinks (In normal times)

I never get the whole idea that kids being magic to xmas! All this santa palavar, all kids want is presents, makes them materialistic in my view. Christmas really should be about something more then a magic red-suited man given away toys for free.

I’m the opposite, not a big Christmas fan. Sure, it’s nice to have a few catch-ups with friends towards the end of the year, but if I could avoid leaving the house on Christmas Day then I would.

I see my parents regularly, only sister (with her husband and one niece) lives overseas but we keep in touch regularly, so Christmas was never really about a big family gathering for me anyway. My parents will be abroad over Christmas this year.

Will go to my wife’s parents this year, they’re big into Christmas as a family. There’s one niece and one nephew, both little, so while it is very nice to see them enjoy it all, I’m ready for home, couch and tv after a few hours.

Totally happy to be Childfree at Xmas.

I have nieces and nephews that I love and meet up with over xmas, and that'll do.

I enjoy the quiet with the wife and we do our own thing.

The idea of the mayhem of Xmas morning with kids gives me heartburn

I'm similar, absolutely love this time of the year and I think a big part of that is not having kids and being able to enjoy the time off.

I've a few friends with kids who have been dreading it for the last couple of months due to the financial burden and expectations. I couldn't be dealing with that at all.

I miss the Christmases of my 20s, when it was all partying and socialising, mixed in with a bit of work. I love the lights and atmosphere and celebration of Christmas. If I had my way, I'd spend every Christmas Day with friends. That's no longer possible due to my friends all having kids now. Also, my husband and I have very small families so the "family" element of Christmas feels like an obligation, rather than a pleasure. I kind of wish there were some kids around to distract my parents, tbh!

At Christmas in the place I worked on the day we broke up there would be a 'progeny parade' as colleagues brought their little horrors in to display them. Hand me the child spray, quick!

The horror! Sounds like something a US tech company here would do.
