You have to admire these drivers, need some balls and commitment to go that fast while being so close to walls either side

    Advantage to the Mercs,

Both Redbulls will have to go again and Redbull will be worried about Perez.

    The track is getting quicker.

This could be unreal by the end of Q3 if the track is ramping up as it is in Q1.

Max fan, can't stand Hamilton but that was the correct decision. The flag was a mile away...

And with cars popping into view at the last minute - it has me on edge watching on TV, I think all seats will have to be checked after this.

What's Perez playing at need a big drive from him this weekend

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,768 ✭✭✭✭ctrl-alt-delete

No penalty for Hamilton, a fine for Merc, and just a reprimand for Lewis.

It is all down to this then.

    Perez goes quickest.

Nice lap from Perez to go P1.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,771 ✭✭✭Hijpo

Hamilton gets away scot free for both infringements.

You can see the weekend falling into Mercs lap already.

Little bit of traffic there for max, he shouldn't have aborted his lap, half an hour time penalty for him.

And there we have an abomination at the end of the lap for Verstappen.

Bottas reporting misfiring - edit - it has stopped now, this could be big for the contrustors.

That was ridiculous at the last turn.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,420 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

Ah what’s that shite at the end of the lap. It’s an F1 track not a dunnes stores car park.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,609 ✭✭✭✭skipper_G

    Car park at the hairpin

  • Registered Users Posts: 11,932 ✭✭✭✭titan18

This track is a joke tbh. Going to be a crap race and qualy is a joke already.

Vettel aghast there when told of his position, both Aston Martin cars out in Q1

Nonsense around the last corner there. Less than 1.5 covering 1st to 19th.

That car park incident was an accident waiting to happen. Can't be allowed to continue like that.

Hamilton reprimanded for impeding Nikita Mazepin in FP3; Mercedes given 25,000 EUR fine

  • Registered Users Posts: 18,058 ✭✭✭✭namloc1980

    Shocker from Aston.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,420 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

That replay of stroll at the start of his lap isn’t on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,570 ✭✭✭quokula

Hard to understand how Hamilton got away with two instances of dangerous driving and one instance of ignoring double yellows with a reprimand, after they gave Verstappen a severe penalty at the last race when a rogue Marshall stuck out a flag while he was driving past even though there wasn’t actually a yellow in place. FIA determined to hand this championship to Mercedes, so many disgraceful decisions through the season.

Once again the tyres are the root cause of an issue. Trying to keep pressures as low as possible. Would be good if the lower-profile tyres next year were a bit less sensitive but if there's any advantage to be gained they'll likely do the exact same thing.

Max and Perez set the fastest first runs on the mediums - Hamilton complaining of lack of grip on them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 39,420 ✭✭✭✭Itssoeasy

The red bulls are liking the medium tyres.

    Sainz just shat himself

Sainz with a hell of a spin, got really really lucky to come out with minor damage to the car, the rear wing just caught the barrier.

Edit: actually he will need a new rear wing, or some redbull tape.
