Small automatic car with large boot

What's your actual budget? I assume ~25-30k if you're looking at a 2019 C-HR.

A Niro EV would be nice but sounds like it will be outside your budget, luckily there are hybrid and plug-in hybrid versions of it also available for much cheaper. Though small crossover's in general don't really have much bigger boots than regular hatchbacks, a saloon or estate really would be best.

None of these compact crossovers are going to have big boots as they are based on medium or small hatchback. So if you need decent boot space then your really need to look at something like the Skoda Octavia which is big in comparison to all these:

Cant help with a solution but part of the problem is that as bazz 26 mentioned the compact crossovers that your wife is interested in are based on a platform that's similiar to the Astra she already has, hence the boot space wont be much more. Even the Octavia which does have a good boot is in a similiar segment to the Astra. The Octavia wheelbase and width is the almost the same as the Astra so the interior space and parking experience should be similiar.

Must be a big pram if it doesn't fit in an Astra. 🤔

I would consider changing the pram instead of the car.
