7-4, shut out win. Offense never really got out of second gear. Three wins by 18 points or more. Things are looking really good. Nice long week now before we meet the Titans.

Do ya reckon JJ has any future there? As a UDFA he's made it through plenty of cuts, presumably there's something there they like about him

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,012 ✭✭✭BizzyC

    I think he'll move on.

He's fallen behind Mondre and Bolden on the depth chart, prob not worth keeping around beyond a vet min contract...

Definitely feeling good after the recent stretch, the next few weeks will tell us how serious a contender we can be. Funny story, my mate asks me yesterday whether he should start the Pats defence or the Bucs(vs. Giants) in fantasy. I give him the whole Bill will make Atlanta play left handed but I don't think it will translate well in fantasy spiel, the Giants o-line isn't great, D Jones isn't smart enough to throw the ball away and will end up taking sacks, etc., go with the Bucs. needless to say, he was not impressed this morning😁

JJ's future with us is tied to his contribution on ST's. A bit like Bolden whose been here for years because of his work in ST's.

That's funny DJ_Eoghan, I'd have given the same advice although I fancied with that OL that Ryan would throw a couple of picks.

Hello my friends, may I present the AFC East Division table. Back on top for the first time since TB12 left. It just feels so good. 😁

Early game on Stephens Day is Bills V Patriots. Put the family on notice

Our form recently has been a phenomenal turn around in the course of a few weeks.

I had always expected our Defence to improve as the season continues, like every BB D does, but they turned that corner much quicker than I had anticipated.

On offence, I'm really liking what I'm seeing from a play-calling and scheme perspective. We're using the TE's and RB's well to help bolster the pass blocking, and using that to our advantage in play action and screen play. Overall this is giving Mac the added time he needed to allow plays to progress a bit and take some deeper shots.

Right now there are very few teams that I'd be afraid to face. I don't think we'd win in an offensive shootout, but I don't think there's any offense at the moment who'd look likely to put 30+ up against us...

Nice, perfect timing with the grandparents available to mind the kids while I hide in the corner with sky go....

This weekend worked out nicely for us. Win out, and the only team standing between us and the 1 seed is Ravens (who have 4 divisional games, Packers & Rams left. They'll surely drop at least one of those, possibly two). I think if we got a 1 seed, I'd really fancy our chances against anyone, as it doesn't seem anyone there is flawless. Fingers crossed.

As great as we are playing my expectations are tempered. Mac Jones is playing great football but he's still a rookie and he'll come up against the best defenses in the playoffs should we make it. The other thing is that both Harris and Stevenson have suffered concussions and a second one in the same season can be bad.

Our D can bring us all the way though I believe and that run game is really good and we look like a playoff team that'll be hard to beat.

So I believe in the team but I won't be upset if we get caught out by a great defense.

We are playing great football and things are looking real good. The Titans are next up with questions to answer coming off a terrible home performance and I think our defense is exactly the wrong one for Ryan Tannehill.

Then we have the Bills in Gillette and they look like they've hit the wall hard.

The game that I'm most concerned about right now is the Colts who have a great offense and are defensively good against the run.

It's entirely possible that we win out and if we do that we have a great chance of the no.1 seed given that three of our four losses are out of conference.

Yeah I'm not as confident as others on here sound. I think we've overachieved (particularly on offence) to get to 7 wins, whereas Ravens, Chiefs and Bills have underperformed, to get to 7, and Titans will have Henry pack for playoff times. I still think we'll be underdogs against any of those at home (and probably Chargers/Bengals on the road.

Getting to the playoffs in Mac's first season would be a great achievement in itself

We've been lucky with injuries so far as well. The next 4 games will tell a lot - if we can go 2-2 over that stretch I'd be happy, and with Dolphins and Jags after that, our final two games are very winnable. 11-6 would be a great effort for the season.

I think the lack of explosiveness in the passing game could hurt us, still feels like we're not getting enough out of the TEs. It was good to see Smith get involved more, want more of that.

A very good performance yesterday I thought.

The Titans may have been missing Henry, but they still have a very good D. We moved the ball well through the air, got a couple of scores and no turnovers. Defensively, we able to allow them to run the ball, knowing they needed to pass to keep up on the scoring.

If they get Henry back in time for the playoffs they could be a different beast, 200+ yards rushing with him in the game would usually lead to a lot more scores for them.

Gotta say that Kendrick Bourne is turning into a superstar in New England. I never seen that coming when we signed him, I thought he was just depth at the position.

Looks like Dugger is going on the Reserve/Covid list and will miss Monday against Buffalo.

    That's a huge loss.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭DJ_Eoghan

Massive loss if that's the case, particularly as we don't really have depth there because we play so much big nickel. Next man up would be Justin Bethel, or probably more likely Jalen Mills making the switch to safety. Either way, the drop-off would be significant. Still an outside chance he could play Monday if he's vaccinated, has no symptoms and has 2 clear PCR tests.

We've seen a lot of these cases end up spreading around a area of the team too. If DB's eat lunch or work out together, there might be more victims

#1 seed going into tomorrow night's game. Huge game.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 42,053 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

It was a huge game, now it's massive.

Actually just to correct you on that, it was massive. Now it's gigantic.

Belichick, McDaniels, Bricillo, Harris, Stevenson, our Offensive line and our whole Defense can all take a bow.

A Belichick masterclass in bad weather football executed by everybody.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,964 ✭✭✭el Fenomeno

That was as impressive a regular season win as Belichick has ever cooked up. I prefer having won like this than having blown them out. That's a special, special victory.

Bills head to Tampa next week while we have our bye. Come on Tommy Boy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,012 ✭✭✭BizzyC

Has anyone done the math on the 1 seed for next week?

Chiefs, Titans, Ravens could all catch up to us at 9-4 next week, who will have take the top spot?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 146 ✭✭DJ_Eoghan

We would by virtue of best in-conference record, which is why we're no 1 now.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,798 ✭✭✭Big Pussy Bonpensiero

Phenomenal stuff by BB to get us to this position with this group. 3 wins from remaining 4 games will see us take the #1 seed (home to Bills and Jags, away at Colts and Bills).

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 42,053 ✭✭✭✭eagle eye

Slightly wrong. Home to Bills and Jags, away to Colts and Dolphins.

    @ Dophins as said.

But I don't see how 3 wins could be enough as that would bring us to five defeats, and any of the three teams who currently have four defeats could run out. (Which is probably unlikely but it sounded like you you were saying that 3 wins would be definitely #1 seed).

Also (and annoyingly) I think if the defeat happened to be against Buffalo then they would have the primary 'record in division' tie-breaker on us, though hopefully they lose at Tampa first.
