What MPG are you getting from your vehicle?

Fiesta is averaging about 7.8l/100km, or 36 ish mpg.

It's not bad, considering I make use of the poke it has a fair bit.

Does it not give something like kwh/100kms or something which is more easily compared with ICEs litres/100kms.

km/kwh isn't a bad one, If you feel like comparing it to a ICE engine consumption then the calc (litres/100kms) is 100/kmperkwh/10.25 for diesel comparison and 100/kmperkwh/9.36 for petrol. so assuming your figure above at 4.5km/kwh, this equates to a diesel consumption of 2.168 litres/100km and 2.374 litres/100kms for petrol. (130.3 & 119 MPG respectively). Costing can be ~ done by the kwh method. your cons is 4.5km/kwh or 22.2kwh/100km, say 20C/kwh (or whatever) , cost is €4.44/100kms. A diesel might return 5litres/100kms, if diesel at €1.60/litre then cost is €8/100kms so (max) energy cost of your EV is roughly 56% of a diesel?.

Presume you mean 5.3km/kwh=18.87kwh/100km, at 13.89c/kwh=€2.62/100kms. petrol 4.5litres/100km and €1.589=€7.15. EV energy cost 36.6% of ICE cost.

You said above that the distances were 3.9-5.0Km/Kwh which is 25.64 to 28.57kwh/100km. that number of 5.3kwh/100km couldn't be achieved on a electric skateboard, the best EVs consume ~ 13kwh/100km and "average" for all would be ~ 14.5 to 20 kwh/100km.

So again if you are referring to a EV then  5.3km/kwh=18.87kwh/100km, at 18.00c/kwh=€3.40/100kms

Mine is a phev and that's what the app is saying. Those are the figures for a trip from Wexford to Tralee and back with a days sightseeing in between, the hotel had a charger so I had a full battery each day. When filled with petrol after returning measured petrol consumed was 4.3/100. To get a more accurate picture of my normal day to day driving, after I filled it I set everything to zero. The app is showing 10kwh/100 and 3.6L/100 long term. I could get a screen grab from the phone but I don't know how to show it here.

Does a PHEV also charge the (EV) battery from the car's alternator as well as mains charging.?

What PHEV is it that you have and how far do you get out of the battery before the ICE kicks in? 5.3KwH/100km is incredible and if your car has the normal size PHEV battery (around 9 or 10KwH) then you should be getting over 150km on pure electric........ My PHEV can just about manage 60km out of it's 9KwH battery for example, before the petrol engine provides motive power.

I need to get whatever you are driving :)

Edit: I see you are getting 40kms from your 13KwH battery so there has to be something incorrect with the car's readout of your electricity consumption. That kind of consumption is more like 32.5KwH/100km. There is no way that either 5.3KwH or 10KwH/100km is correct with that distance on battery alone unless you are being towed everywhere. I would suggest resetting the total electricity consumption meter in the car and driving it for a while to get the true reading.

10l/100km, or 23.5mpg in old money. 172 E43 Merc.

It's probably 5.3 kWh/100km overall, including hybrid mode driving, as there's only one trip computer for all driving. By the same measurement my Prius Plug-in is doing 6.12 kWh/100km, but as I know my overall EV mode driving is about 38% it's more like 16 kWh/100km for electric-only driving.

PS: The Watt is named after a person so should be capitalised, unlike kilo- and hour which are not.

34mpg average after 7000km - 4.5 months of ownership of my BMW 128ti.

Not too bad at all for a 2L petrol with 260bhp.

7.4 l/100km city in 152 1.6 TDCi Focus Saloon. Only just picked it up last week so I’ll be interested to see how it does on its first long trip tomorrow.
