Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    I imagine the proprietor is happy enough to sell to a hotel developer and retire with a ton of money.

    The pub will not remain the way it is. The facade will stay, and everything else, including the soul, will just be replaced.

    DCC and ABP are happy to bend over backwards to suit developers and investment funds. They don't really care about culture or the fabric of the city.

    The people running the bar don't own the property.Its the building owner that wants this.


    There is a protest tomorrow in Smithfield at 1 pm for those interested

    And the culture and fabric of a city apart from it's value to the citizens is an integral part of what makes it worth visiting.

    They're to presumingly block the planning permission. We do not need more bloody hotels on Dublin. Just like we didn't need supposed student accommodation built and then planning granted to Move to air BnB . The market is off its tits here and DCC are happily dancing to the tune.

    Absolutely tearing apart at the reasons exiting tourism comes in the first place.

    The pub is rented, not owned by the Mulligans. They are not the ones proposing the development and it would appear from interviews that they are not in favour of it.

    There are approximately 100 hotel proposals in Dublin anywhere between announced in the media through planning up to nearly ready to open; this is on top of plenty of new ones in the past few years. There was a shortage - particularly of low-mid end hotels as the small hotels in this sector often became direct provision or homeless accommodation. But there isn't now.
