I think its unfair to come on here and slag of a painter without supplying all the facts? If you cant paint a wall then i suggest you aren't a pro when it comes to DIY.

IF the wall was previously painted to plaster and that plaster wasn't sealed with PVA solution then paint will peel off, if the painter painted in summer and the walls were particularly dry then no problem but come winter wall can become damp depending on whether its an internal wall or an external wall within the house.

At the end of the day there's lots of factors to add in here that posters haven't been furnished with.

Why don't you get his name or his company name off the invoice or vat receipt?

I'm sure any professional tradesman would be more than happy to fix bad work if he done it.

You'd hardly be stupid enough to pay some dodgy looking lad in cash to try and save a few quid and then be surprised when you get a sh1t job done.

€600/700 would be very cheap. At that rate I'd be happy for them just to get a splash of paint on the walls.

could be if you simply dont have the time, are uncomfortable on a ladder or at heights, physically cant do it, for whatever reasons etc etc. fair play though, i prefer to do my own also
