Hi all I had a small bit of work done recently and the finish was terrible, company sent the same guy back out twice to fix it and was still as bad as ever, they’ve now sent a new guy out to redo everything and it’s still poor quality. We only paid half up front so I’m wondering what our options are now? Do I need to go legal or can I try hire a new tradesman to fix it and pay him the balance? I’ve been very reasonable up till now even though it is very inconvenient having builders call out on numerous occasions and still not have the job done to the level we expect. Thanks

I was hoping to keep it anonymous and I’m afraid posting the pics might identify me if they were on here! They have mailed me again today and have said they are going to order brand new materials and start the job again from scratch. It’s more hassle but I suppose it’s the only option available

can you discribe the work. what was done and how was it screwed up

its har for us to work out if its a customer with too high a standard or a trademan with far too low of standards

sorry yeah that’s true, it was an external door fitted, never closed properly as the door would rattle in the frame even when locked, sealant all over the place, looked like a toddler did it. No plasterwork repaired as agreed. It wasn’t cheap and has been a disaster of a job from day one, we’ve now had 4 visits with a total of around 15/16 hours I reckon of lads hammering and drilling and now to be told it all has to be redone is a right pain
