Mazda dealers not upgrading premises to latest corporate design

Have noticed x3 of Dublins 4 Mazda dealers have not ugraded their premises to Mazdas latest design despite it being out a few years now . Stuarts are the only dealer to have , the likes of MSL Park have signs that could have been made up by any printing place.

Assume some fall out over cost / who pays for upgrade in premises ?

Doesnt help Mazdas place in the market as they are not selling great.

Why would any dealer invest that sort of cash in a diminishing brand. Probably go the way of mitsubishi tbh

Mazda were the 16th top selling brand in Ireland last year, and have been around the same position for quite some time - above the likes of Volvo, Suzuki and Honda, which are all above Mitsubishi. There's not really any evidence to suggest they're "diminishing", but considering the past couple of years it's hard to justify investing in dealer showrooms.

Also: I can't help noticing Mitsubishi Motors Ireland are still actively advertising their cars - I thought they were gone?

Scandalous. Are people still buying Mazdas? They're a dead brand, killed by Peugeot and the like.

The new model a look very well and the corporate design looks well , imagine it's the warranty that are drawing people to likes of kia and hyundai instead

Mazda's dealer network here is small and generally poor. Their after sales support leaves alot to be desired especially when it comes to issues with their dreaded 2.2 diesel engine. Their range is fairly dated too, the likes of the current 2, 6 and CX-5 have been around forever and have had more facelifts than Cher. Their finance packages are not competitive either compared to others. All these contribute to them remaining an unremarkable 16th in a small market that still loves Asian cars.

I wouldn't blame dealers for not wanting to invest massive money in upgrading their showrooms for the brand, it's not as if selling units will pay it back.

So they are just selling remaining stock? It seems weird looking at things like their Facebook page where it's like business as usual, posting about warranties, roadside assistance, etc. with no explanation of what will happen to all that when the dealer network disappears.

what are mazda like for their hybrid/electric range? just mulling, but if the options are poor, and there's a hint that that is where sales will go, dealers may not want to invest in a brand which (might) not be investing in R&D to keep up with the times.

Mazda has number 2 market share in Australia weirdly. So not doing badly everywhere.

They dropped the diesel engine from the 6 late last year. The 6 itself is being discontinued towards the end of this year once stock is gone and I don't think it's being replaced with another saloon in Europe. People just want crossovers in that segment now.

going the way of the honda accord it seems. There used to be a fair few cx5's on the road... know someone who had a lot of bother with a mazda 6 diesel.

Honda Accord, Toyota Avensis, Ford Mondeo, etc all gone now. Passat/Superb are really the only ones left in that segment.

Sorry, I was going off on a tangent about Mitsubishi pulling out of Ireland and surprised they're still here, months after the announcement.

Retiring the Mazda 6 isn't much a surprise, the end of the D-segment saloon is nigh - outside of the premium market anyway. Some interesting figures here:
