Giro D'Italia Stage 10: L’Aquila to Foligno (139km)

    Reading the paragraph below from the CN preview of the stage, I'm surprised I never heard of this! I wouldn't have been into watching cycling as much back then but it sounds like one you'd expect to hear more about.
    The mere mention of L’Aquila is enough to evoke memories of the astonishing 256km stage halfway through the 2010 Giro into what was then an earthquake-devastated town. In torrential rain and mist, the bunch lost both its bearings on a large breakaway group and, eventually, 13 minutes on those riders as Evgeni Petrov won the stage and Richie Porte, then racing in Saxo Bank colours, pulled on the maglia rosa.

    The bookies have it as a day for the sprinters and with Ewan gone it's anyone's game.

    Bora to hammer it over the climbs to leave Sagan on his own come the finish and Nizzolo to end his curse of 2nd place finishes.

    The stage being only 139 km in length with no major climbs is rather unusual.

    I'm expecting Bora and Qhubeka to set a high tempo.

    I noticed that Lotto Soudal only have five riders remaining.

    Ewan, De Buyst & Marczynski all left the race over the weekend.

    It looked like Viviani royally messed that up.

    Fair play to Bora for lighting it up today - Sagan really needed to deliver the win after the previous efforts.

    Yeah Viviani's lead out man was on the front and he was in 8-10th wheel and still sat there when the sprint opened up.

    It was showing 21 seconds gained by Vlasov on the line - that's one big gap over the other GC guys. It's since been corrected.

    What exactly was Molano from UAE doing? When we went to the front in the last couple of hundred of metres was he trying to win (he looking to be sprinting full gas) or was he leading out Gaviria (and Gaviria just lost his wheel)? :confused:
