Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Buying a Garmin -Dodgy website or no?

    (Apologies if this isn't strictly speaking directly a "cycling" thread, perhaps I should be posting it somewhere else, but I am shopping for a cycling related item)

    These websites are virtually identical, and have the same address in France. I've been looking at a new Garmin watch - their new instinct solar - and the top hit result / ad is from these two sites. They're a good 50 quid cheaper than most everywhere else. I was actually all ready to buy from direct-running when I just happened to notice the sportisgood site is exactly the same.

    Has anyone here ordered from either? Or am I as well off to stump up the extra few beans and walk in and out of my local Harvey Norman / Currys?

    Cyclesuperstore don't seem to list the item at all, though they have most of the Garmin range.

    Never heard of them and got caught by something similar. Try alltricks, Deporvillage, bike24 and bike discount.de

    They've only set up shop in that place if they're legit. No mention of them on the business park map and it's a warehouse so could be anything or nothing.

    I certainly wouldn't use either website

    For starters https://www.facebook.com/Direct-Running-100360048825642 was only created in March 2021

    ˇ was created in 2016 but less then 1k likes
    Daily posts of content but next to no interaction from people.

    Even based on social media footprint it smells of a awful scam
    Thats before you even look at the websites

    An extremely reputable trader.. They deliver to Ireland for €9.99, so add in a few tubes or something...

    Nice one. That website did crop up on a search, but I just didn't know anything about it.

    bike-discount.de is deffo an option too, cheers. I've sent them plenty of money over the years!

    Went with these guys. I tried to give CSS a bite at the cherry, went down to them to see what they had in stock but they were 389 for the normal version, which is a long way from 300, and then they were 429 for the "surf" one against 338 online. I was willing to buy if they could match Harvey Norman at 349 (normal one), but the best they could do was 369. -It's fair enough that they couldn't price match with a global online market but if they're also markedly dearer than the place next door then that's a tough one. Anyway, Harvey Norman are a bigger operation and stiff competition too. At least I gave them a go.

    Course the advantage CSS have is that I'd have the damn thing in my hand now instead of having a a sore finger from click-refreshing the tracking page. :rolleyes:. Don't think it has shipped yet and I kinda need it for Friday. Anyway, tis in the lap pf the Gods now. :)
