Can I suggest Google Family Link.

    What is Google Family Link?
Google Family Link allows controls across a family group, allowing parent(s) to control child devices, to varying degrees.

It lets you create and manage a specific Google account for your child. This account is a lot like an adult account - but there are limitations on what the account gets access to from Google. Family Link then allows you to remotely manage a child's device, including things like screentime limits, device location and installation permissions.

The full list of features are:
    • Manage parental controls across Google services
    • Manage the apps your child can use
    • Approve or block apps your child wants to install from the Google Play Store
    • See how much time their child spends on their apps with weekly or monthly
    • activity reports
    • Set daily screen time limits for your child's device
    • Set daily limits for individual apps
    • Set a device bedtime
    • See your child's device location
    • Remotely lock your child's device
    • See all devices where your child's account is signed-in
    • Play a sound to locate a child's device

If you also enable SafeSearch on the account they can't see porn in their search results.

If he really wants to and he looks hard enough he will find it.

You really need to have 'the talk' with him. To be honest, 13 is a bit late to be having the chat.

O i know that the talk will be happening after school. Boys will be boys at the end of the day.

Turns out the pages in the internet history were popup ads for local hook ups, would they come from an app? will google family stop these.

is there a way to find which app causes them.

    Its feasible.

    will google family stop these.

I believe so but am not 100% sure

is there a way to find which app causes them.

Im not sure about that. One thing I will say though, Google targets ads based on the content it detects in whichever app. So, if it displayed sites for hookups, it must have detected language in the app which suggested the viewer would be interested in that site.

So he might be innocent in that he didn't go looking for hookup sites, but he searched for or viewed content that suggested to google he would be.

If he's using the phone on your home wifi rather then the 3G/4G/5G connection on the phone you could also adjust your router settings to use Open DNS.

You can filter content then using opendns that will effect your home internet connection, ie: block adult sites, gambling sites etc

    https://signup.opendns.com/homefree/
