    Shoot me!

Over the last few nights I have watched on BluRay EpI, II and III.

Apart from some bad acting and rubbish dialog and of course JarJar
They are good films, especially III which is a fantastic film.

In fact I am more peeved now that they brought back Palpitine in IX, it ****s all over the prophecy.

I think they also missed a great chance in IX or in the ST in general to revisit Coruscant, it's such a great world for visuals.

The first is pretty terrible. That irritating child and Jar Jar Binks. But, this scene and the music is fantastic:

I enjoyed the second and saw it 3 times in the cinema and had the soundtrack on MiniDisc.

The third is a terrific film.

Couldn't agree more, and I think the sequels have actually made me appreciate the prequels so much more. The prequels were well-constructed, carefully-created, thoughtful, and faithful to the OT. Of course, there was some infamously-terrible dialog, some annoying characters, and occasional bad acting, but these are offset by the high points - brilliant lightsaber duels, cohesive plot, battle scenes, and memorable characters. More than this thought, the prequels expanded-upon the Star Wars lore and mythology of the OT, and gave us background and context. The sequels, on the other hand, are just regurgitated rubbish for the instant gratification generation.

Spot on , and I posted somewhere else this video ...

I feel they really lost some great oppurtunities to tie it all together ... could have been so awesome.

Now I know with concept art anything could look good, I could look at concept art from the Last Jedi and believe we have the greatest Star Wars film ever made - but for me , it's probably the worst (allthough some epic moments)

Prequels for me got a lot better after watching the Clone Wars. Fleshed out the characters in a way that the movies didnt. There was so much potential that Lucas wasted, really wish he could've given the reins to a more competent writer to build upon.

Speaking of the Clone Wars, I will be getting Disney+ soon and will give them a go ... well I have watched season 1 allready when it was on netflix briefly , and some excellent episodes in there - but a lot of filler too , has anyone got a definite list of episodes to watch that deal with the real story ?

apart from going to iMdB and getting the 'top rated episodes' feature ?

    Jeez.. can't really remember..

The whole story just builds and builds and builds
.. and suddenly I was asking myself: is it really going there .. and then it went there .. a few times

Like.. Ahsoka.. her story starts so small and simple compared to where it ends up.
The Clones! Whoa boy! As the seasons went on and dug into them.. they really changed from just a faceless bunch to having their own depth.

    OK !
I hope it respects the canon of epIII ...

First season is pretty weak, but it gets a lot better. Anakin is given a much better treatment overall, really builds out his motivations for turning.

I don’t want to shoot you.

    I love the Prequels.

I like JarJar but he had too much screen time. Cut down the antics 50%

I’m too used to the dialogue now and can’t imagine the Prequels any other way.

The Sequels are a terrible disappointment made worse by the fact that Last Jedi shows us just how good Hamill could have been. I do not like what becalmed of Luke but Hamill was superb doing it.

There's a fan editor who made the prequels SO much better to watch, which are so good infact, his edits are now my go to/default versions to watch. There's only so much he can do with the source material, but with some positioning of deleted scenes, careful removal of trivial/unnecessary scenes, and quite frankly some voodoo....he was able to really turn these films into very decent entries into the franchise (and I say this as someone who never hated the prequels to begin with).

Have a look out there for the HAL9000 prequel edits, they're incredible. One thing that left my jaw on the floor was a whole new ending for Padme (see above mentioned voodoo)....really really brilliant.

Not to mention Harmy's Despecialised Editions of the original trilogy for anyone who hasn't heard of them - again, my new default versions to watch. All the retroactively added in CG gunk has been removed etc - it restores the heart and soul of these films.

Maybe for something like the 30th anniversary of TPM, they could do official Special Editions of the Prequel Trilogy and create new edits which would permanently replace ‘the originals’. If they could do this for the original trilogy, then it’s certainly possible for the Prequels. They could make a big deal about it being your last time to get the original cuts then launch the new editions with the improved edits.

If George Lucas was still head honcho that would be something that could happen.

Disney would be afraid of unsettling the natives.

I can’t believe they gave us the “vintage” stuff with more to come.

And I would much rather new Star Wars anyway. Like a Luke Skywalker animated series.
