Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    So, Underage starting up later this week. 6 year old has no helmet and boots are too small. What are the best options to get gear that fits for kids with sports shops still out of commission.

    From a football county but living in a hurling area so no idea of helmet sizing:confused:

    If you are having this issue, other parents must be having the same issue.
    Has to be a lot of kids around the country who have outgrown helmets and boots. Maybe the club could organise a 2nd hand sale/passing on of gear (boots/hurleys/helmets) from older kids to younger kids. I would have thought helmets especially would be very suited to being handed down/passed down at the younger ages. Boots would be very dependant on condition.

    Surely there are places online that are doing boots/helmets/hurleys for kids online that deliver?

    Got message over the weekebd that kids are back training this week. Ordered gear from elverys and it hasn't even been dispatched yet.

    runners will do fine as the ground is so dry and hard
    I'm sure the club will have helmets you can borrow and then they will disinfect them or quarantine them for a week

    Was looking to buy some equipment from Networldsports.ie (a UK company). Have bought stuff off them years ago and everything was OK. Checked trustpilot and they seem to be getting poor reviews atm.

    Anyone buy from them recently?

    Runners are fine. They are 6 so will still be working on basic skills.

    Someone in our club mentioned that the local Sports Direct was open by appointment for kids gear.

    Ask the school if they can source helmets. I know we get them through the school scheme and they are subsidised that way and you pay 35 or 40e, as opposed to 70/80 in the sport shops

    Agree with the runners suggestion as well
