That's what she's counting on. She's ramped up her religious beliefs for this purpose. She's no more religious than I am. Her case was ridiculous and without merit, only right she pays.

why was her case ridiculous and without merit ?

Comparing these two to Ghandi and MLK! This is great banter.

Lets see all this unfold. Hopefully they'll be arrested and jailed. Either way they're in deep deep trouble. Legally and financially. Its hilarious.

I think Mr. Little is trolling at this stage....

I think Mr. Little is trolling at this stage....

With 5Gemma supporters it's difficult to tell as the real ones are sometimes more like parody than parody.

you could say the same thing about every person that has ever fought for human rights ghandi .. marter luther king .... and many of which we never heard about..... if we all had that attitude about every one that stood up for human rights we would all be living in countries worse than north Korea

The two people you highlight as fighting for human rights are the very type of people gems and her supporters have ssues with.

Other difference between gems and the two examples you provided was that they didn't advocate violence, they didn't harass old people on the street and they didn't run away as fast as they could when challenged.

She certainly knows how to attract the mentally challenged and scrotes of Ireland, but the same can be said for similar bags of sh1te like the national party.

John is alright, he made a mistake aligning with Gemma I think.

The comments are harsh. I would hate to see comments if they'd done something wrong, like murder someone or something.

Maybe he'll finally emigrate like he promised if the 8th was repealed.

If you see gem and beardo as fighting for your rights you’re already doomed

    if its a plandemic ...

    And I stopped reading there.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,017 ✭✭✭TaurenDruid

Well that's the most important point of the case.

if its a pandemic ... well yes you could argue certain rights could be temporally restricted ... common sense at play

    if its a plandemic...

    But it isn't.

I'd started actually typing out stuff explaining why there is no 'plandemic conspiracy' but ffs, what was I thinking.

The 'plandemic' stuff is bollocks. I know that, the courts know that, the people who've died from covid... well. Deep down, I suspect even John, Gemma, and possibly even you actually know that.

  • Registered Users Posts: 289 ✭✭myfreespirit

why would you be happy ... their fighting for your civil rights .... and yet your cheering on their defeat ... weird

This post is succinctly summed up by the following apposite comment by Umberto Eco:

"Social media gives legions of idiots the right to speak when they once only spoke at a bar after a glass of wine, without harming the community ... but now they have the same right to speak as a Nobel Prize winner. It's the invasion of the idiots"

Looking forward to the day when we never have to hear this idiotic word again.

    Conspiracy theories are that way......

Lets try keep the thread on topic, which is the hilarious fact that Gemma and John are in dire legal and financial trouble.

Another one to add to the Gemma failure list.

Sacked by the Indo, failed to get a nomination for the presidency, less than 2% of the vote in the European elections, 4% in the Dublin Fingal by-election, less than 2% in the General election, banned from Youtube and Twitter, was sued for defamation, failed in the Covid legislation case, has no friends and is disowned by her family.

Can't think of a bigger loser in the country. Quite literally. At some point you'd think she might have a look at her life and decide she may not be on the right track. Shes a complete failure.

Why don't you explain why you think it is, and we'll do the same?

Seeing as you're the one making the (ridiculous) allegation.

    But I'm guessing you won't....

george orwell also summed it up well .....

“Threats to freedom of speech, writing, and action, though often trivial in isolation, are cumulative in their effect, and unless checked, lead to a general disrespect for the rights of the citizen.”

“In a time of deceit telling the truth is a revolutionary act.”

“Each generation imagines itself to be more intelligent than the one that went before it, and wiser than the one that comes after it. This is an illusion.”

“The most effective way to destroy people is to deny and obliterate their own understanding of their history.”

“A people that elect corrupt politicians, imposters, thieves and traitors are not victims, but accomplices.”

“You are free to be a drunkard, an idler, a coward, a backbiter, a fornicator; but you are not free to think for yourself.”

George Orwell has a good qoute for Gemma also

“Being in a minority, even in a minority of one, did not make you mad. There was truth and there was untruth, and if you clung to the truth even against the whole world, you were not mad.”
    George Orwell quote

That's the problem with quotations, people don't tend to understand what they mean, the background behind them and tend to leave some of the text out. But they sound clever.

This. Once upon a time the Village idiot and the Bar Bore would sit at the end of a bar in their village and be ridiculed. Social Media has given them a wider outlet and the ability to coalesce... essentially instead of tolerating villages idiots and bar bores individually they have now evolved and formed a global community. Not sure what you would call it? a plague of village idiots? A flatulance of Bar Bores? Whatever. But its another genie that Social media let out of the bottle that we need to put back in somehow.

It is not at all certain that this particular genie can be put back in the bottle, unfortunately.
Social media giants such as Facebook and Twitter are reluctant to police this phenomenon, which allows the influence of "the idiots" to proliferate. Just look at Trump and his followers in the US. Similarly with Brexit in the UK, the useful idiots on social media have allowed the Tories to promote the lunacy of "Global Britain", another vacuous bit of nonsense.
What is really worrying is that these idiots are allowed to spread their nonsense far and wide and there seems to be little that can be done to prevent them. Anti-mask nutjobs, anti-vaxxers, conspiracy theorists, you name it, all have their say on social media.

One year ago, almost to the day, Leo Varadkar publicly said "The science on masks is equivocal". Now maybe he was mistaken or lying but "anti-mask nutjobs spreading their nonsense"?

Until very recently you didn't have total conformity morphing in real time to match whatever politicians say is the current belief.

For instance in the 1980s Garret Fitzgerald would not have gotten away with being as labile as Varadkar. He could not have deployed sudden total reversals in policy or rhetoric and if he had people who noticed the inconsistency or objected would not be dismissed as insane.

why is it stupid .. there are fundamental rights at stake .. whether you agree or disagree with the argument... they have the courage and conviction to stand up for those rights ... having people like that is very important to maintain democracy and civil liberties... and should be applauded for their stance ... not jeered at

Do you remember that video where Gemma O'D went into a halal shop and jeered the shop staff about their religion, was she fighting for everyone's civil liberties there too?

What about the bans she received for racism on facebook and youtube and godknows what else at this stage, were they all stunts for protecting the civil liberties of everyone, or just white Irish people?

Is that the type of person you want fighting your corner for civil liberties?

She's a well known racist, anything either her or John Waters says is tainted by their past and present hatred and racism, regardless of how mental they both sound on other topics.

What on earth are you on about?

The scientific research evolved, as medical experts studied how SARS Cov2 was being transmitted. Instead of fomite transmission (being picked up by touching surfaces), it was discovered that airborne aerosol transmission was the primary cause. Therefore, logically, controlling generation of aerosols by wearing a face masks makes good sense.
Hence, the change in policy, with proven benefits.

Some people live in a world where we're supposed to have total knowledge of a new virus instantly.

The idea that situations evolve over time is too much to bear, apparently.

She was reportedly driving around Greystones yesterday in a pickup towing a display trailer with antivax messages.
