live versions which transcend the originals

Location makes it extra special

There aren't many songs where I feel the live version transcends the studio version (especially when I exclude songs that I have seen live and really it's just me being nostalgic about the experience of seeing it live) but one obvious one for me is the Mystery White Boy version of Dream Brother by Jeff Buckley.

This to me is my 'go to' version of the song. I could probably say the same about most of Grace as it's an album that I really struggle to listen to in recent years even though the song writing on show is exceptional. There is something about that album that's far too polished for my tastes given how I like my music to be a little oblique.
