Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Natural v clay slates

    Any opinions on whether natural or clay slates are better longevity wise?

    Which would you choose?

    Bangor Blues have a 100 year warranty. Life expectancy would surpass this.

    If you can afford the Blue Bangor natural slates they're the Rolls Royce. I've worked on lots of conservation projects where the slates were 150 years and in perfect condition. They were public buildings, churches, historic university buildings, etc. They really are the best you can get. I don't think I've never put them on a house due to the cost. Spanish slate is probably the next best and more affordable natural slate.

    I've seen a lot of manufactured slates fail. It's usually the colour that looks crap after 10-15 years.
