Israel?how the **** did they decide that?

It brings me back to my original point. They are down to around 200 cases a day with most of the population vaccinated.

They're close to herd immunity and they still got added to the mandatory quarantine list... What complete nonsense is this?

At least they are removing Mauritius, which was only in there because they copied the British list.

    They've also added the Phillipines.
Nice kick in the teeth for a lot of our Healthcare workers.
They are averaging 8k cases a day with a population of 100 Million, equivalent to 200 cases a day here.

I really do fear the future for travelling. I have a bad feeling. It’s the same ****e. The variants, the f****g variants. I can’t help thinking this is going to be permanent as long as covid exists because of the variants , eventually most if not all countries will be added. Adding Israel would certainly make you wonder.

They started easing restrictions on February the 7th and are now nearly fully open with cases and the r number continually falling since

I guess we have to look on the positive of today that they realise that Ireland are in the EU......and we cannot just champion the EU for certain reasons and then go against the founding principle of it which is freedom of movement and trade!

I’m nit sure I could keep living in Ireland if that’s the case.

Is it actually illegal now to leave the country?

Aer Lingus have moved their transatlantic service to the UK and the government don’t seem to care.

This list seems like a complete compromise so everyone can save face.
Bonaire, Sint Eustatius and Saba. . .
the Territory of the Wallis and Futuna Islands. . .

    I mean. . . what?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,684 ✭✭✭Tenzor07

Christ... what a collection of countries.... none of which are direct to Ireland...

    I've only been to 3 of 26 ...

Israel, a country with over 60% of their population vaccinated - hotel quarantine.

    sCfUuFy.png

Wallis and Futuna, population of 11,558. Total cases: 409, Deaths: 4. - hotel quarantine.

    I can't even...

In relation to travel within the EU I've been lucky enough to have had to travel over the last few months. It's a complete pain now due to lack of services. Try get out and back to Europe in a day now...its impossible. What was once a day trip is now a 3 day adventure. Most European cities now require 2 flights to reach them. Many of the direct flights will not come back with the flick of a switch. The damage has already been done and Donnelly will be long over the hill with his Ministers pension before we see 2019 levels of connectivity again. As for the "thousands" that are reported landing every day ....I'd love to know on what flights !

There is simply no logic to the list.

Isn't the whole point of hotel quarantine to prevent new variants getting into the country, but variants have a much higher chance of developing in countries with high infection rates so then they add Israel, does not make sense . I wonder do these zero covid group have the ears of the department of health?

    Andorra, Monaco and San Marino.
You're not exactly going to know if anyone has actually came from any of these places.

God forbid these happy, vaccinated people are coming in with a negative PCR test, and then quarantining at home in Ireland for 14 days :o Lock them up!

So the green cert will be valid in 'all' European countries?

I can see no medical reason for Israel to be added. That's an absolute joke. Probably added to prevent us travelling there to have fun.

Is probably because of all the unvaccinated Orthodox Jews. Because they are known to travel to Ireland for their holliers

I bet that's it. We'll have to go to Florida instead.

The fact they have added vaccine leader Israel to the list of MHQ countries demonstrates these people are idiots and the sooner they disappear back into obscurity the better.

Incompetence yes but these people are making decisions that are dangerous to the future of this country.

No one from Ireland would be allowed entry into the state of Israel anyways...

The level of incompetence displayed by Donnelly and others in his party over the past few days is reminiscent of the type of decisions that brought this country to its knees just over 10 years ago. The fact that the vast majority of the opposition either supports or wants to go further than his position also paints a dismal picture for the future of political leadership in this country.

Coveney appears to be one of the few capable politicians we have, his performance during the Brexit negotiations was exemplary and he seemed to beat some common sense into Donnelly and others today.

Oh I agree, incredibly dangerous. Destroying our country, economy and reputation with disproportionate and illogical rules. Telling us that they have to protect against variants that have all been shown to be covered adequately by existing vaccines. Then they talk about potential variants that may occur and refuse to exempt fully vaccinated people from quarantine! The level of incompetence and ineptitude from our current government is some of the worst I’ve ever seen.
