Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

Household refuse providers for county

    What Bin Providers are people using out the County where ye get a Food/Compost/Brown Bin?

    Neither WERS nor Barna provide Brown Bins in my area.

    Honestly, it depends on the area as a lot of them seem to have sliced up the county and only operate in certain parts.

    Best option is to ask your neighbors who they use

    Also, for brown waste, you can always compost it if you are so inclined. You'd be amazed at how much waste goes into a small pile of compost

    Mr binman do small compost bins but only seem to cover parts of south Galway

    Barna Waste (no brown available) and get yourself a conical compost bin, throw in only uncooked vegetable waste, tea bags etc with a few handfuls of some dry 'browns' (dried leaves for instance) and you'll have quality compost in 9 months, just give it a dig\stir every now and then to get the air in. you'll save a ton in terms pay-by-weight savings since most compostable organic waste is mostly water.

    How does that work for someone who lives in a town with little outdoor space?

    I found Mr Binman to be very good when I was using them last year. Had the small Brown Bin, but never used it is it was not economical vs putting in the black bin which was a shame.

    It seems that a brown bin service outside of the town sites throughout the county is not feasible for waste operators.
