Didn’t realise Blanchardstown is the worst hit Covid rate in Ireland

    https://m.independent.ie/irish-news/health/revealed-find-the-covid-incidence-rate-in-your-local-area-40087404.html

Hopefully the numbers will keep coming down.

The numbers just reflect the global trends and patterns that a virus takes ie: path of least resistance.

Can't see Castleknock & Ongar going much lower.
Both have hovered around the same numbers for last 3 weeks.

The numbers are quite stubborn at this stage.

HOw do they compare on a national level, ok? High? disastorous?

Now that the schools are back again, I can only see the number going one way :(

Given the national incidence rate seems to be 240.4 cases per 100k in the same two week period as the last set of figures, that puts Castleknock ~10% above the average (not too bad for my money, some have to be higher and some lower for there to be an average, after all), and Ongar at ~50% higher (poor enough, IMO). Blanchardstown-Mulhuddart is 120% higher than the national average (or a total of 220% of same), in contrast.

Its no worse or better than any other urban LEA within the big cities or surrounding counties.

Lighter shading better, darker higher cases
All the data is here, updated every Thursday evening

Ah, it's pretty bad in fairness. Whatever is happening in Blanch/Mulhuddart, it's consistently one of the worst areas in the country.

Apartment blocks, communal living and the demographics of the people inhabiting the area in question. Think large families\social groupings unable to self isolate even if they wanted to.

Wouldn't be surprised if schools finish up for the year at Easter.

I would be absolutely shocked if that happens. Government has made schools their first priority (correctly).

It has been closed 18th and 19th already as part of same.
Could possibly be Teachers involved as not enough teachers for school to be kept open.

I've seen it reported there (Twitter) and on RTE that it's Mr Price car park but The Journal are reporting it's in the Aquatic Centre. One to double check before you turn up for a test!

They might be hoping to have the 5km radius take in a wider cachement of Finglas too. Or maybe they just dont want anyone rocking up for a test to take in a bit of shopping while there!

Anyhow its a good initiative, hopefully it will help tackle spread, particularly as there's no fee and you don't need a GP. Might just help catch some additional cases.

5km is completely irrelevant to this. That's solely for exercise and widely misunderstood. I'd imagine mixing testing with the shopping centre was the greater concern.

Or more likely, the owners of the shopping centre charging them rent for the spaces they occupy.
