Passat timing belt change due

    Hi all, I have a 161 vw Passat 2.0L GT 190 bhp 142000km/ 82,000mls
    Diesel.
    Could anyone tell me when the timing belt needs to be changed.

    It's not due until 220000km but maybe due on age which is 5 year's but not sure on that.

    When did the Passat become a classic?

    Was told 100000mls but thought it was bit soon but as you said I might have to go by the years.

    Was ever a classic & I don't think It will be ������

    Have a 161 A6 with same engine and was told today 5 year's or 220000 km which ever comes first. It's only 550 including water pump so I might get it done if I intend keeping it.

    The price sounds reasonable.
    I'm in the same situation, get it done or trade in. just need to price it now

    Well if your trading they will tell you the Car is worth SFA because it's due.

    210k kms, there is no age limit on the belt on those.

    €450 at a VW dealer i think?

    Do some dealers try to charge extra to include a water pump

    Timing belt replaced with water pump.

    Total cost €450.
