Anyone else got referral to SVUH Covid Clinic?

Got a referral letter this morning to attend Professor Mallon's Covid Clinic in SVUH for late March. I'm pretty curious about this as I never tested positive for Covid at any point nor for antibodies as far as I know. However I have been undergoing various tests for an ongoing condition, and await a scan appointment etc.

Anyone else had such a letter, or attended the clinic, who could throw light in what this might be about?

I've asked some relatives, friends, chemist etc, and nobody so far that I know has received or heard of anyone receiving one of these referrals. I will attend anyway on the day, see what it's all about. Going nowhere else these days!

Why don’t you phone up and ask about it?

Who referred you? I would contact them. It's unusual to be to be referred to a specialist with no prior discussion.

I have absolutely no idea who referred me. All I know is I'm awaiting an appointment for a scan to evaluate suspected lymphoma and my GP had mumbled about getting me on an urgent vaccine list if I have to undergo treatment, that's the only thing I can possibly think of, but haven't heard any such thing being rolled out there. It is almost impossible to contact any hospital by phone now, I'm trying to check up when scan might be, but phones remain unanswered due to particularly high demand and staff being taken up etc. But who knows what it is, I will find out when I show up.

That's very unusual. Prof Mallon is an Infectious Disease specialist. I would reach out to your GP and find out if it was them who referred you and what the basis of the referral is. Even the Medical Secretary would be able to answer that for you.

Got my answer about this clinic after HP told me he had no knowledge of it. Turned out to be because their laboratory had received my blood for infectious disease testing and so I got on the general infectious diseases clinic list, but that the admin person put Covid Clinic on my appointment letter in error. After several phone calls I got into a very helpful doctor there who assured me I hadn't tested positive for anything but that the purpose of the visit was to discuss testing for further possible infectious diseases. I told her I had subsequently got answers to my symptoms and this wouldn't be needed, so appointment was cancelled, sparing an unnecessary visit to a hospital at this time.

So it seems the admin people are, by habit, putting "Covid Clinic" on appointment letters because at the moment over about 90% of such referrals are to follow up people who are suffering "Long Covid".

I know you've already found your answer but i signed up to add a bit of information on your original post.
Not surprisingly, very few would have heard of this clinic as it's a post-covid clinic for long haulers and kept quiet of its existence unless referred to by a Doctor or your GP.
It's also for a general infectious diseases clinic.

This makes sense. They're probably processing 9/10 for post covid and assumed it was one more.

Also, they're not doing any in-house visits but telephone / video conference calls, unless they don't have your bloods or need more bloods. Recent policy change to minimize visits to the hospital for cross-contamination(s).

It's a new Clinic attached to SVUH near the main road but there's no signs nor anything on their website.
