Got to my first game of the season last night, and after beating Dundalk at the weekend, I expected slightly better. Other than a few chances, not a very exciting game.

    :(

On one hand, surprised no Delaney protests, but then with talk of fines, and fans being ejected from games, it would appear that the FAI attempting to silence its followers of The LOI, is working.

    :(:(

Not in Dundalk, or St Pats, they definitely were vocal against F fcuk A all I integrity

How did the team do last Friday night? ;)

Probably the weakest squad we've had since promotion in '05. If some quality isn't added - up front, especially - then another relegation scrap is likely on the cards.

Yes replacements for both Parkes & Mahon are needed before the transfer window closes. I heard the someone has put in a claim against Sligo Rovers and it has eaten into the available funds for signing more players, so I hear tell anyway.
Hopefully there is a better performance this Friday at home against Pats, performance against Harps was meant to be every poor, like the result.

Another piss poor start to the season. We've been flirting with disaster for the last five years and I suspect this is the season when all the misguided decisions of those five years finally come home to roost.

We became a revolving door of bad managers and pissed away an absolute fortune in the process. The ultimate irony is that we finally installed a decent manager but have only a fraction of the transfer budget to offer him thanks to the parade of clueless gob****es who preceded him.

After a relatively bright first 10/15 minutes when we had a slight threat the rest of it was horrific last night.

Constant passing across the back 5 and then give the ball away. Get a throw up near opponents box and then 100% pass it back towards our own box. We ahve reverted to that passing backwards instead of forwards. After one final throw that went back, it felt like the 5th or 6th on our left side in the second half I walked out in frustration with 5 minutes left.

The new lads look completely hopeless, like the worst lads in your class in primary school, not semi pro/professional players. Have to hope they improve or that they will be squad players

Silver lining, when Banks and Donelon come back it will help.

The comments on the Rovers FB posts are good. We are all seeing the same thing anyway.

Rough few opening games with no points.
Played better against Bohs, had the same shots on goal as Bohs but lack of finishing saw Rovers come away with nothing.
New striker in " Ryan De Vries", he is maent to be quick & strong, lets hope he can finish too.
Need to start picking up points, let hope Rovers start getting some against Waterford in the Showgrounds this Saturday.

The battle of the Rovers, Sligo Rovers V Shamrock Rovers, this Saturday 7th March (tomorrow night) 8pm at the Showgrounds.
New signings Alex Cooper making his home debut and Ryan De Vries has received his international clearance to play so he should make his first appearance for Sligo Rovers.
Shams are top of the league table with winning all their games sofar this season and bringing ROI capped internationals like Jack Byrne & Graham Burke.
Going to be a tough game for Sligo Rovers so home support is a must.
Come out and support the real ROVERS.

Here we are again, the start of a new League of Ireland season.

Sligo Rovers first match of the 2022 season is this Saturday 19th February at 19.45 in the Showgrounds against Bohemians.

    Match tickets available here.

Also this is the first year for Sligo Rovers to have a Women's senior team.

So like the men's there is now a pathway from women's youth teams to the senior team.

Their season will be starting next month, Saturday 5th March away to Peamount United but their first home game will be the following Saturday 12th March.

A lot of good stuff happening over at Sligo Rovers ATM if you want to support either the Men's or Women's teams or both.

Unfortunately the Bohs match was called off due to the weather.

Next home match at the Showgrounds will be on the 5th March against Dundalk

Big day for Sligo Rover FC today.

Today is the Sligo Rovers senior women's team first match of the season, away to Peamount United at 5pm.

You can watch via LOITV or listen via Oceanfm, all details in the link below.

Also it is the Senior men's team first home league match of the season against Dundalk in the Showgrounds at 7.45pm, due to the Bohs match being cancelled two weeks ago.

It is going a good match and great atmosphere, you can get tickets via the link below.

There is a lot of excitement and growing interest in the League of Ireland these days. Because of Brexit young football players are not allowed to go too UK clubs until they are 18yo. So there are a lot of young footballers staying at home, coming through the LOI academies and completing their leaving cert before moving abroad. If you look at all the Republic of Ireland youth teams (U-15s, U-17s, U-19s etc), all the players are playing at LOI clubs now. Which is all very exciting to see a local pathway for young players to become a full time footballer, in both men's and women's football.

A lot of people support clubs in the UK but you can still support your local LOI club on top of that. Nobody is saying to become a die hard fan over night but try going to a couple of Sligo Rovers matches if you have free time or interest and soak up some live football and the atmosphere. The support and money goes a long way for the club.

Big game this Thursday evening 14th July in the Showgrounds.

Sligo Rovers senior men's take on Bala town in the Europa Conference League Qualifying campaign. Rovers took a 2-1 win from the first leg away to Bala.

Going to be a great atmosphere and hopefully a good match with plenty of goals, with the Rover's strikers Keena and Mata in red hot form banging in goals lately.

Tickets available for the European match here

    Up da Rovers

That was a fantastic result. It speaks volumes of not only Rovers but League of Ireland football in general.
