Ordering a scope Rail from the US

    Quick question, I want to order a scope rail from the US.

    They are about 1/3 the price of anything this side of the pond. Might end up paying duty on it but it should still work out considerably cheaper.

    Is this classed as a "component part" of the rifle or am I ok to order ?

    It's an accessory over there,as are any and all parts, bar the receiver.So it should ship to you no problem.

    I recently went to order spiked feet and a pair of extensions for a atlas bipod from a us company and they said they weren't allowed ship them out of the U.S

    It shouldn't be a problem. I've ordered numerous rails from the US without any problems.
    I ordered a set of addmount scope caps recently and the company didn't ship internationally so I used addresspal and got them.

    I put the rail into "my basket" and just stopped short of buying it and they seem to be willing to ship it with free postage.

    Did you email them to ask if they have a European stockist ?

    No, didn't email them, they are a gunshop/supplier in the US, just added the item to "my basket" and went as far as the checkout and it didn't raise any issues ( they would have known at that stage where I was ordering from) and it didn't add a shipping charge either.

    If its free shipping its probably limited to the lower 48.
    Kinney's shooting supplies in the US deliver for reasonable rates usually within a week and have all the rails and rings etc you could want

    There is a company in Germany called Recknagel who do all sorts of rails and sights and all that. Not cheap, but great quality.

    These are the guys I am talking about.

    The rail is for a CZ527 and they were out of stock for the last while.

    The particular rail is more expensive for the 527 by multiples of, say a 455.

    God knows why.

    Its a "want" not "need" purchase, but what the hell :)

    I've got lots of parts from Kinney's. CZ rails for my 22lr and 223, trigger parts and springs for my CZ 22lr.
    Postage is OK, cheaper that DIP.ink.

    I wouldn't look for anything to be posted before christmas if i was you, its gone completely crazy on the delivery front.

    Not completely true. I ordered some hunting clothes on an early Black Friday sale last week and they landed today. Just down to what shipping company is used.

    My experience of ordering parts from the US is that they charge a lot for shipping and you get hit with taxes on this end.
    Sometimes there is no alternative, case in point for a delivery of a butt stock weight and sling swivel im due to get today.

    It cost $89 for the items, the only form of shipping cost $61 dollars and im sure I will be hit with taxes, but ive no alternative.

    Some companies are quick, some take weeks with the US postal system depending on what you ordered and where it came from.
    Best advice try and find it in Europe if you can, except for England its much cheaper and readily available.

    And don't ya get hit with duty/tax on the postage as well?

    I ordered a Benchmade 940 from the States, cost me a clean fortune by the time it was in my hands.

    Postage from the US can be quite expensive with the taxes but in saying that Kinneys are quite cheap for postage
