Hi all,
Vanilla are planning an update to the site on April 24th (next Wednesday). It is a major PHP8 update which is expected to boost performance across the site. The site will be down from 7pm and it is expected to take about an hour to complete. We appreciate your patience during the update.

    Looking to get a good 5 piece saucepan set over next couple of weeks
    Was looking at around 100 to 150 euro

    Any recommendations

    Stellar are a good brand and do some decent sets like this one for example which I have, although it's a bit over your budget.

    Arnotts have some other Stellar sets as well.

    Otherwise IKEA are worth a look.

    I agree, for non stick pans, but personally I'd never use non stick for normal everyday saucepans. I have a Circulon "chef's pan" which I use all the time and love it though.

    I'd advise staying away from glass lids.
    Most of my pots have glass lids and I hate them.
    The break.
    Moisture gets under the handles.
    The handles get lose and fall off.

    Like the poster above I hate glass lids, Useless in the real world.

    Its 5 ply and honest to god the heat retention is amazing, I only have to heat up to 75% to the aluminum frying pan I have. It boils water quicker than my kettle.

    I could of gone down Le Creuset route but this was half the price and I know they will last till I die.

    I bet, if you look, that there is water and stuff under the handles.
    Maybe some are better constructed than others - so maybe there isn't on yours.

    Anyway, despite your experience all of those things have happened with my lids.
    And I hate glass lids on pots!

    I did look :) They are metal handles and are riveted on, not the big round plastic ones held on by screws, nowhere for anything nasty to hide.

    I've never seen a design like that.
    It's the screwed on plastic handled ones I hate.
    Still, I prefer a metal lid, though:)

    I have a Stellar set, can't fault them at all.

    I'd say at this stage wait until Jan for some serious savings in the likes of Arnotts.

    Yer buying something that is a ten year plus investment, hell my mother has a Prestige pot that was in the house that's over twenty years old I'd say and that's no record.

    I'd avoid any non stick coatings, and glass lids (I know they may be grand but steel is harder, remember longevity) and look for solid riveted handles. And a good thick base.
