    Understandable but when you put all your eggs in one basket so to speak re land permission the last thing you want is to have that permission null in void due to building etc.
    There are many, many gun clubs in around Dublin who's lands have disappeared fairly quickly due to developments.
    I'm about a mile from the 'countryside' here in the suburbs and land is quickly been gobbled up for such things as new roads, road widening and of course development. Unlike 30 years ago were ot was common to see farm land left idle for years before the surveyors moved in theres crops in the field this month and survey stakes and access roads been put in a few months latter.

    Unless they have started on the building and it has been cPO'd or otherwise taken in possession it shouldn't be a problem. I That is for the OP to find out the current status of whats going on with development on those permissions.

    Is it hard to get it amended to include hunting? It seems as if it'd increase the time of wait a serious amount especially if I have no route of going about hunting at least for the first few years. Not sure if it's worth the hassle.

    my own opinion is,,, sort the car first, you wont be able to afford to do it once you get the shooting bug!

    Just tick the box for hunting and attach written permission from a landowner. It doesn't make the process any longer. It's no hassle really.

    As The pigeon man says, it's just a tick of the box and some written permissions when applying for the licence or getting a renewal.

    I'm not sure if it's possible to change it outside of those instances but someone more knowledgeable than me can answer that. I think it might require a new application (and another €80).

    So one can bring a gun and ammo on a bus? Since our guns are sporting instruments and not weapons and isn't gunpowder flammable?:pac::P:pac:

    Edit - I know I'm being a dick.

    Believe it or not I received a letter years ago about a shot gun license and the garda letter refered to my firearm as a weapon.

    Iarnród Éireann doesn’t allow “Loaded firearms, explosive or inflammable articles or materials”, so technically unloaded firearms are allowed. So if anyone want to take the train to a range, that’s theoretically possible, but you might be walking for a while between the train stop and the range :)

    Hi there
    Just some advice, I'm shooting 30 plus years.
    When you apply for a Firearms licence one box you have to tick is for a safe.
    If you want to shot a range for a day as a none member. That's ok for the first time.
    But you will have to have insurance from a gun club or Country Sports Ireland.
    Then you have to look at the expenses off shooting as a none member.
    You won't get any range to hold your Firearm for free.
    So you would have to join a range? Shotgun or rifle big difference when it comes to applying and storage.
    Not much fun in shooting if you can't carry your gun to a different place.

    I got to agree with this. I got out of college and bought a Sako TRG, literally didn't spend a washer till I saved up enough and got it. No wheels though, should have done it the other way around.
