they were given a chance and they blew it.

Carlow, Kilkenny, Waterford, Mayo, Leitrim, Longford and Sligo have all had less than 50 cases in last 14 days.
Why would they be put into level 5?

    They shouldn't be

I thought this was already accepted practice for covid that you put regions into lockdown and not a broad sweep

Well no because their pre empting whats coming.

They'd have been stopped anyway so doesn't make much odds really

Not at anything like the same rate. Waterford, Kilkenny, Wexford and Carlow combined don't add up to Dublin's rate per 100k but we should be under the same restrictions?

No ****e like the parties in blocks of flats going on here. Time for the capital and it's population to face up to its glaring problems rather than reflect them onto the rest of us.

What about the culchies in Dublin, Galway, Limerick etc are they all sitting at home?

The only reason the GAA have stopped club games is because the inter county season restarts next week.

Unfortunately people can not be trusted. You only have to look at the disgraceful scenes yesterday at the Cork GAA match to see that. These people screw us all and put us back into these lockdowns.

I know GAA is like a sacred religion in Ireland but with cases from sports clubs and sports events and no social distance from some supporters etc., should it be stopped again, it is a necessity essential

I await the backlash over GAA

Also even at level 5 how can schools and colleges remain open

We are high again in cases as schools and colleges, reopen cannot be coincidence

    Totally.

The government shouldn't give them a cent.

Let them go to their Sky friends.

One of the main concerns raised by NPHET and reasoning for move to L5

All GAA games suspended. Idiots did it to themselves

Retail outlets are probably the safest places at the moment with all the controls, mask wearing and so on.

Colleges would be the opposite. Close mixing of students, then sharing of accommodation and the inevitable house parties.

It makes no sense to close retail outlets but leave colleges open (not online)

Its like NPHET are determined to ruin this country economically.

    I saw them yes.

Matches would have been stopped anyway with a change in level so it was coming regardless

How did the GAA blow it? Surely it was the players and supporters that blew it.

they've been repeatedly asked about schools risk over the last few weeks and have always either vaguely answered or diverted people's attention towards restaurants. if there was no problem with schools they wouldn't be saying they can only stay open with a nationwide level 5.

If community transmission is low then schools are ‘safe’ is what they’re saying ( I use that term loosely as we don’t know how safe schools are)
Community transmission is increasing so in order to keep schools ‘safe’ they have to stop the increase in community transmission cases.
Advising govt to go to level5 restrictions= lowers community transmission= schools able to remain open

If the Country goes to level 5 I personally will be taking my children out of school

I dont think its right to blame the GAA for an infectious contageous disease spreading like wildfire.

If the country goes to Level 5, schools will be safer, not more dangerous. I don't follow your logic.

Is dr Sam McConkey living in the real world at all ? He was saying it wouldn’t be a full lock down because business can operate online. Yeah because every business in the country has or it’s even practical to have an online part to their business.

Boards could be in trouble so. Has a hard time staying online...

The GAA are stopping club activity so the intercounty season can happen without a hitch. I think this would have happened with or without whatever videos are around.

While outlets such as barbers, hairdressers and clothes shops closed during the last lockdown and were deemed non essential, off licenses were allowed remain open and deemed essential. What a farce. And it will be the same this time.

off licences are nowhere near the risk of the other businesses you mentioned. and alcohol has gotten a lot of people through this thing without completely losing their minds. as unhealthy as that may be.
