Level 4 won't stop f@ckwits. Only destroys economy. Transmission is in family homes. No level is going to stop that.

And how do you think the virus is transmitted in family homes?. By people out and about in contact with other infected people and not taking basic precautions. The virus doesn`t suddenly materialize out of thin air you know.

Dan O Brian on radio 1 saying shutting down the economy again has the country on a trajectory to require another bailout
Doubtful , as the ECB presses are running off free money 24 hours a day and will for some time to come but we could probably write off 2021.

I Wonder is Mr. Tony reading this thread?

Really like him tbh. He's calm and to the point.

He has splinters in his arse from jumping over the fence every single day.

His points change like the weather

Between the news last night and the change in the weather, it doesn't half bring in an onset of feeling down about everything. Depression is probably too strong a word but Im definitely not in an upbeat mood. Waking up this morning on a dark wet morning wondering whether I'll still be in business by the end of the year let alone this time next year. Even last week waiting on my negative result I didn't feel this bad.
These sheilded highly paid and unelected civil servants have no idea what is happening up and down the rest of the country. Oblivious to what a simple 'leak' does to normal people trying to get by day to day.

We needed a bail out for our banks, this is a different situation altogether.

I can't see a scenario where we require a bailout because there's nothing to bail out as such.

So you don't think keeping people at home and stopping visits between homes will stop transmission in homes? Okay....

You completely ignored my point. On purpose i contend.

I'm saying fcukwits won't listen. Are you telling me the antimask protestors on Grafton st yesterday are now going to follow the rules? Or will they continue to not follow the rules?

Clearly then you never listened to him so.

Iv'e actually listened to him a fair bit tbh. He clearly knows what he is talking about unlike many of the "experts" on here.

Not shutting it down for a relatively short period now will eventually lead to that happening anyway.

In his view the country itself could be bankrupt in 2021.

Now some of his views i don't agree with but he's of the opinion that the ECB won't be throwing money at us because we're the only country looking at a full shutdown.

Like I say some of the things he says i agree with others I don't

Don't twist what i said. Read the context.

People today are flaunting the rules. These people will continue to flaunt the rules. You actually think that the people meeting up in family homes against the rules today will stop. They won't they will continue to ignore the rules.

    That's not a 1+1 answer it's x="?"!

Are orthopedic operations allowed in level 5?
I've an ankle operation next week and getting nervous.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,457 ✭✭✭evil_seed

If we do go to level 5, and the creches are to remain open, but we are restricted to 5km of travel, what do you do if your creche is over 5km away? The panic is unacceptable. What was the point of the levels if we are not going to logically go through them?

Thats your opinion but not a forgone conclusion as another poster said its not 1+1

Southern Europe is already bankrupt. Carry on regardless.

    That's essential travel.

Not going to happen. He has his own agendas anyway tbh. I'll go with what the health professionals say instead of some random economist

Hopefully that doesn't happen. I would have thought that Ireland has decent economic clout in the eyes of the ECB and others. We're a different player now compared to 2008.

Absolute nonsense from him as always.

The ECB are practically printing off free money and will continue to do so for the forseeable future. No bailout will be required.

Well no economy is no health service, whatever way you look at it they aren't mutually exclusive so yes there are economics to take into account weather you like it or not.

Well if they don`t then strict measures need to be taken to enforce compliance. The kid gloves approach has been tried with the fcukwits and now the gloves need to come off. A zero tolerance policy is now clearly required.

Also, does anyone know whether we still have an additional surge capacity in ICU/hospital beds or is that only available if we shut down the remainder of the health system like we did in March?

    The latter I think.

    Pre-Covid capacity: 225
    Temporary surge capacity: 354
    Current permanent capacity: 280
Capacity after Winter Plan funding: 297

The 5Km rule only applies to exercise. You are to stay at home unless essential. Creche would be essential.

No worries, the clever virus knows where you're going and decides not to spread there, i.e creches and schools.

    You do post some nonsense.

    Sweden is twice our population.
Another 6000 deaths? We've had 1800 so far. Sweden despite remaining open are on track to have no more than 500 new deaths by Christmas.

4000 assisted deaths? At least you accept Ireland also has assisted deaths.

Sweden always had isolation for the elderly and occasionally nursing homes.

    It is all, unfortunately, true.

Thank you. You actually decided to read what i wrote. The govt has lost a huge portion of the people and they aren't coming back.
