    **** this lads.

What's the earliest this might come in in terms of enforcement?

The problem all along us there is no enforcement.

It's just guidelines so we will go around in circles.

They both need a hospital bed and hospital care, they both take up valuable resources. Can't kick a patient to the curb cause they have covid but weren't hospitalized due to covid.

One is in hospital from complications due to Covid. One is in hospital because of a broken leg and later tests positive for covid.
Their reasons for being in hospital are very different.

My point still stands..... they still take up a bed and are infectious and a risk to other patients and HCW's

I can see this taking a few days to happen if it does probably for the wkend. So 4 wks if it happens level 5, brings us up to mid November. Back out of it cases rise a lot over next say 5 wks after that, level 5 again for wk of Xmas and over it I can really see that happening as well.

Although it’s been shown that covid doesn’t really transmit outside, I’d say yes, level 5 will see them close it again....

Even if the government push back on NPHET and only agree level 4 nationwide its excessive as they haven't even trialled level 3 nationwide

NPHET should be sidelined from now on as they're recommendations are so extreme going for level 5

IF we go to level 5 or 4 then the government needs to put their foot down and start taking action against those people breaking the guidelines and put it in to law and get the gardai to enforce it
Not wearing a mask - 100 euro on the spot fine - those idiots on Grafton St could have helped substantially to the HSE
Pubs/restaurants/shops breaking guidelines - immediate 1000 euro fine
    and so on
House parties - 500 euro fine

None of this pandering around where the gardai say they will have a look at it and consider investigating

I don't see why the rest of us have to suffer for the indignant fools who think they are above the rest of us and are immune to the virus and being told what to do

I've had 4 different groups of teams driving past, blasting their horns, celebrating various games today. I'd imagine there have been numerous celebrations this weekend.

Both beds would already be taken - one for covid, one for broken leg. One must stay for treatment, one can return home and self isolate. They are not on the same level of seriousness.
It is dishonest reporting and may not be giving an accurate picture.

Thats fair enough but the point is that they would be in hospital pre covid anyway so a positive case here is not an extra burden which would not have happened pre covid.

Can definitely see where the hotspots are.
I'm dying to see the data NPHET are using to justify level 5 countrywide!
I'd also have loved to seen the swab data today, but be shockingly high for them to take notice on a Sunday.

At this point I'd put a red X on every front door where a (anti)social gathering has taken place. Note the address and then read it and the family name out on local radio.

I'd just like to thank the people of Dublin, Cork and Donegal in particular for their diligent work plunging us into a likely Level 5 semi lockdown. What with the weather having turned to shi'te I'm sure we'll all be glad of this opportunity to sit by the heater/fire and daydream about Spring.

What part of the country are you living in?

I’ve been saying this from day one. The law needs to be a deterrent. Needs to be given that power..

Free up places in our prisons by releasing a good number of non violent, non drug, non gang related prisoners say those within 10% time of release / parole...

Put the empty cells on six one and other prime time news slots.... “this waits for you if you can’t comply”

Looks that way but takeaways will stay open which should bring this virus right down.

Essential retail and businesses that are primarily outdoors only can remain open. All other retail and personal services closed

Covid wards are more scarce, they take a lot of resources to run. Person with a broken leg would need to stay and be treated, someone hospitalized with covid complications won't just be sent home to self isolate.... they need to be treated first.

And also, if the hospitals start picking up more positive cases via testing before admission for procedures, that's a bloody worry, it means it's getting more widespread in the community.

Lets establish a concentration camp on an Arran island and put all the school kids in it. On Friday the lunch time social distancing for a throng of about 30 secondary school students I saw was about 0.2m, on average.

    You spout some nonsense.

No matter what we do we are dealing with a tiny minority of people who are quite close to, if not, crazy. They'll follow Gemma O'Doherty and the others no matter what.

It's pointless trying reason with that cohort. Unfortunately they drag down others who are vulnerable to their nonsense and they are the ones on these stupid wreckless marches.

What part of the country are you living in?

Waterford, where we had a few outbreaks and got on top of them with little drama, the numbers in recent days have been low enough to be on the "other counties" list.
