When we look at 20 in ICU we think that's not to bad.

But you have to remember ICU has to cater for other diseases/accidents.

NPHET is so far removed from reality even by recommending level 5 that they should be disbanded

    Madness

There is not yet pressure on hospitals

I know it will be considered anecdotal but I have heard from two sources that the indications are that hospitals are headed for serious pressure in the near future. I'm sure Gov and NHPET are party to data we mere mortals never see.

People don't get it. If you want your kids in school, level 5 is the only thing we have a chance with. No fvcking "advising" without restrictions. It makes a mockery of those who follow the advice.

You obviously work in the public sector! Your making a mockery of the rest of private sector that’s being destroyed!
if level 5 is implemented all public sector workers should be put on PUP!! That includes NPHET!!

    Are they getting sick though.

Sweet mother of god, does it matter! You do know that they would have to take time off and quarantine when they get a positive result. That means getting someone else in to replace them. Heath staff numbers are not infinite.

The underlying issue here is we have a barely functioning health service, in which they twiddled their thumbs around for the last 6 months.

Tony Holohan did a bad job the first time round, and back to complete the job.

Where was he with the nursing homes etc? Before all this the cervical cancer scandal....a lot of deaths, we were better off when he was taking time off for his family. I don't know why some people think he is some sort of saint. He has not done a good job and will just destroy this country fully before he is finished if he is to get his way.
The economy will be killed and people will be killing themselves from the depression all this would bring.
The proposed cure should not be worse than the virus.

Ha ha...not that I disagree but The five level plan that goes.....

    2/2.5

    2/3

2/3.. But some of you need to be a bit more careful

Sleepy Ryan... we hope we can avoid level 4.

5 EVERYWHERE! Run for the hills and panic!!

It’s obvious that with the way things are going that a couple of months from now level 5 would be needed, so going there now may mean we need to stay there for less time and can get things under control much more quickly. And fewer people would die in the process, though nobody seems to care about that these days for some reason because a few extra quid in your pocket and the ability to go for a pint are more important.

An extra few quid in the pocket? How about not being able to pay your mortgage due to this? So we go to level 5 for a month, whats the next part of the masterplan? In and out of it for the next year?

If another lockdown is to happen then it's better we do it soon and bring cases down quickly as we did before, we might even be able to enjoy the few months around christmas with some sense of normality then.

The worst case scenario would be a slow creep up through the phases over the next few months inevitably stretching towards level 5.

Better level 5 now, then a much longer level 5 later.

The sooner we bring the numbers down the better.

Waiting will just result in a longer level 5 later.
There is no point trying to implement a level that they will very hard pushed to get people to follow. This is not March and the manner of the decision making of this will make it very hard for the government to enforce.

Unless they want to scare people with a rumour about Level 5, so that a Level 3 or 4 will be accepted more readily...

Dont be panicking. No chance of level 5 restrictions. 99% of people dont want it, itd be political suicide for the coalition and MM and LV know it.

Yes but if they got sick they could be out for months and it would be worse, their health matters as well you know, they are not robots.

Paris heading for lockdown after Macron insisting all summer that France would not return to lockdowns and would avoid doing so at all costs. Major credibility hit for him.

A lobby group has basically threatened the government to shut the country down. There are times when you have to defend the motherland.

They want to usurp out way of life to theirs. This is a Coup attempt. Defend the motherland. Through ALL means necessary

Im sure a significant amount of that pressure was generated through mismanagement of hospitals for over 6 months earlier this year.

We can all pay for the criminal mismanagement

Maybe so, maybe not. It's immaterial to the supposition that our hospitals are approaching a High pressure period that will result in them becoming swamped,

How about we try try pull together and limit this virus .......I will admit Government need to pull their socks up ...last few months have been a circus

How safe is it right now for a person to visit our Hospitals with the current virus levels
