You think Sinn Fein are the worst party in the country? You'd wanna take off your blinkers.

I didn't say Sinn Féin are the worst party in the country. They nearly made it in the last election and if FF, FG and Greens were to be hit the way you suggested, I would imagine SF would run more candidates and be miles ahead of Labour and the indies

No need for the nasty blinkers remark.

I reckon the decision makers know that hard restrictions around meeting people will be nigh impossible to enforce around Christmas.
Best to go in hard over next month or so and hope the virus spread reduces dramatically to allow people to enjoy Christmas with family and friends.
That needs to be communicated properly. If recent efforts are anything to go by that's a very tall order.

Their thoughts might be.... Lock down hard now. Circuit break. Open up for the big spend pre Christmas and allow the gatherings. Then deal with the next mess in New Year.

What an idiotic way of thinking then.

    Level 5 is politically toxic.
No-one is standing for that again & a huge number of business will fold for good.

We haven't even given Dublin 3 weeks to see if it has worked in levelling off cases as today has shown with Dublin % of daily cases failing.
Putting whole county to Level 3 is more palatable.

Has NPHET forgotten that shutting down the economy means less tax revenue and thus less money for the health service? There couldn't be many non-vulnerable people who have severe symptoms.

I believe ireland has lots of covid cases out there. More we test the more we’ll find. Like dr feeney said on primetime. First case was in Feb I think. But he said a man died in cork hospital 2 weeks previous from covid. It’s out there. And it’ll have to take its course.

Some people only have themselves to blame for this mess.

It’s a virus. It lives on humans. It’s not going any where. Regardless of how much you finger wave and moralise at people. Deal with it

Looks like government going to put up alot of resistance here

    Resistance??

They are the fcuking decision makers.

Tell NPHET that the country and economy cannot do another total lock down..... So tell NPHET come back with practical recommendations to protect the most vulnerable without sabotaging the economy and everyone's future

The point of a circuit break is it is flagged well in advance giving people and businesses time to prepare, and avoiding a sense of panic.

Going to level 5 next week would induce panic. They can't be doing this to people, these things need to be flagged well in advance.

I'm still hoping RTE have just got the news wrong and it's a discussion of Level 3/4 which would make more sense to me.

Really wouldn't be surprised to see protests in Dublin like what occurred in Serbia this week if that actually goes ahead

And well there should be. And it won’t be a lunatic fringe any more I can tell you

No more flights and tourists in from Texas or whatever other country is riddled.

Whike asking us here to stay at home.

    Absolutely ludicrous.

    Nuts, Competely nuts.

The ABSOLUTE WORST course of action is to go for a lockdown / open up rinse and repeat cycle.

Seemingly Israel had protests too...some protesting lockdown...some saying its not strict enough.

From what I have seen Irish people have got slack to a certain degree.
Irish people need to get better at wearing masks, buses and business have to refuse service if no mask, limit numbers based on capacity better as well.

NPHET are just thinking, Europe's going back into lockdown, Donnies gonna kick the bucket and we're heading for lockdown eventually, so fcuk it why wait?

Taking a completely black and white view of it I cant blame them but it still blows.

Nphet dont give a toss about such minor inconveniences. They’re a pampered, privileged group who’ll always be paid full whack regardless of what happens.

Before agreeing to Level 5 the government should get Stormont and Westminster involved, no point doing this unless the goal is effective elimination which will require quarantine for inward travel to the Island and for Northern Ireland to basically go down the same route.

Politically it is probable impossible but otherwise we'll just be opening up in a month's time having achieved little other than giving ourselves a few months before more restrictions.

I posted a link to official research on face shields/visors a while back: https://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showpost.php?p=114731852&postcount=2161 and that was about full visors, not the equivalent of a protective sport cup, only smaller! These are a piss-take, as well as a mistake.

I don't disagree....but the numbers in Northern Ireland are becoming utterly bonkers as well, and that is outside of our control. The positivity rate up there is something crazy like 15 percent!

Yea this stinks now when you look at the bigger picture.....Tony obviously wanted to come back for a reason, he wasn't happy with how things were going and he has after pulled a mad one here.

He really should have been told to continue his time off tbf.
