What do you expect the Gardaí to do exactly? Baton charge them off the street?

In fairness that would be a start

I haven't seen my kids, parents, ex wife or friends face to face in 6 months because of this thing. I'm dead serious

Would you go and see them in their garden or on the beach or somewhere outside, for goodness sake. There is no need for you to be doing what you are doing.

There is a need I don't want to risk my family's lives. It's led to some upsetting phone calls but if that's the worst thing to happen then I'm getting off easy

    No. It wouldn't be right.

But a large number of hospital cases are down to obesity, alcohol and smoking.

But if any politician came out and said that the mob would go crazy.

During lockdown Beaumont had a lot of alcohol related problems.

And neither is it right for anyone else.

No doubt plenty want to see a hard line taken against these sort of protestors but we all know that will just make their voice louder.

What we need is for the Director of Public Prosecutions to start actually directing that the people organizing these protests be prosecuted. There needs to be targeted enforcement against those organizing the protests. We all know who they are.

The covid threads are now just a constant battle between the "everything is grand" and "lock everything down" brigades. Same thing back and forth all day every day

This essentially means no actual discussion can take place as any reasoned debate gets lost in the crap

I think we could be missing a trick here....

Going by the posts here id say they are saying, no no sure its too dodgy meet with the whole covid thing, let's give it a year or three.

Where can i sign up for the covid militia?

I was drilling with a group during the week.
All going well until one of them coughed. Was like someone had lobbed a live grenade at us.
    We ran for our lives.

Any more petty digs you want to get in? You normally throw a massive fuss if people disagree with you on this thread

100% agreed on this. Poster is a troll.

A very obvious troll. Got carded for saying as much weeks ago.

impossible to get large parts of the population on board with further restrictions at this stage, particularly young people. we should be looking at emergency mitigation plans now, readying the military for field hospitals etc. i'm not joking.

Maybe I'll get an infraction for saying this,

But seriously where are the mods on this forum?
There are certain posters coming out with some disgusting comments and I can only assume are just trolling at this stage. At least I hope they are because it's scary if some people really believed in some of the things they are posting.
The Relaxation thread is leaking. They've been over there egging each other on with increasingly obnoxious opinions, and unfortunately some of them seem to think their opinions are now mainstream - and can safely go around repeating them out loud.

The more of your posts I read the more I think you are just winding people up .
If the above statement is actually true then you are probably the only person in the country to have done this

I fail to see how Daring to disagree with a citizen erased is trolling but okay

Government need to close all off licences and restrict the sale of all alcohol in supermarkets etc. This will stop the house parties. All pubs need to be closed down again also.

I saw a group of students buying enough alcohol yesterday to stock a small pub. Obviously another house party.

True and Tbh I think it’s also true of any existing or future restrictions that may come down the line. Obviously bulldozing people in tanks as mentioned earlier probably isn’t ideal, but there needs to be some sort of meaningful sanction or deterrent at this point. Proclamations by govt or NPHET are just being widely ignored because everyone thinks they’re a special case.

Thank you. You're a real trooper.

Easy for the sugarcoaters to deflect attention from today's awful number by telling worried people to hide under their bed etc.

No booze they'll just turn to drugs or seven minutes in heaven or ouija boards or something as the catalyst for the party.
If you just wanted booze you'd drink at home.

Would you prefer your doctor was elected rather than qualified?

I would prefer the elected Government to make policy taking into consideration the far reaching consequences of the Restrictions. Balancing NPHET’s brief with the wider societal consequences. At the moment NPHET don’t seem to consider anything only a Covid death. Other deaths don’t matter, which are far greater at this stage, and unfortunately due to the initial lockdown that went on far too long, there will be a litany of cancer diagnosis missed. Think of the Cervical Check scandal, and how many diagnosis were missed and multiply it by any big number you can think of. It probably won’t even scratch the surface
