I won’t condemn the protests at all. Surprised it actually took so long with many people’s lives and livelihoods getting destroyed.

I’d imagine most of the lockdown forever supporters are not majorly impacted by lockdown financially or socially.

We definitely should consider forcibly confining people if they don't comply. We've tried being nice and we were only laughed at. Time to break some heads.

Jaysus I want to know what you're on so I can avoid it

Cases in 5 to 14 year olds are steady, but the are sky rocketing in 15 to 24 year olds. What do 15 to 24 year olds do that 5 to 14 year olds don’t?

Go out after school with pals unsupervised 15-17, also going to school in the first place, as well as being more susceptible to Covid than the younger age group, they are pretty much as good a carrier as an adult.

17-24 on the piss in College.

What a bunch of tossers. Businesses are being hit hard enough without them discouraging people from shopping with their conspiracy theory nonsense. It's people like them acting the maggot who will prolong any restrictions as they will contribute to community spread.

I am just so seriously sick of Covid and the sh1te that goes with it. I’m generally a glass half full person, but it’s hard when the numbers are going this way. I hate that I’m telling my smallies not to hug granny and grandad, all the first world stuff like just go and sit and have a coffee.

Facing into the winter which I don’t like at best of times but we’d always go away to the canaries during the winter for some sun, can’t do that. I know there are bigger issues but I’m just so pissed off today. :(

Just focus on the day ahead don't think of the bigger picture of what's happening and what could happen

What's horrendous is the false cries about the economy and mental health when all that's worrying them is the next pint

You dont see anything horrendous with the massacre of protestors and innocent bystanders.

I'm just sick of the kid gloves bull**** in Ireland. The likes of China have a point. If people don't want to comply they should be made to

I think Ireland should be able to solve this without some of the hyperbolic nonsense being uttered on this forum at the moment.

Calls for a 'Tianmen Square' is absolutely disgusting stuff. It's an insult to those who were killed in China and it's making light of one of the worst anti democratic and human rights violations in modern history and it's also feeding a load of online conspiracy theorists who think a bunch of public health restrictions enforced by 'careful now! down with that sort of thing!' unarmed, low-impact policing is somehow 'fascism.'

We could do with having a national conversation about this and coming up with an actual plan that people can buy into properly. We also have to be realistic about the prospects of a vaccine being quite a long way off at the stage. It's all fine and well to hope and be optimistic, but we aren't being realistic either and that's leading to dragged out lack of predictability which is doing damage to people's lives.

We need to get realistic about social distancing and actually do it. We also need to get past the 'ah but haven't they worked so hard and deserve a bit of a rest' type attitudes. The virus does not care how hard we work or what we do politically, it just likes using our cells as a factory to reproduce. It's a non-sentient, simple, tiny RNA parasite and nothing more.

Take it seriously. Keep the damn curve flat and hopefully in 2 years or so we have an exit strategy. It's stupid to keep misleading people with the notion that a vaccine is going to be this autumn or next year. That's Tory Party / Donald Trump fantasy land stuff.

Give people the cold hard facts and we can deal with them.

The only hope I see at the moment is with those recovered from it (35k in Ireland), if there can be a period of a year plus that they are 99.9% not going to get the virus again we could relax social distancing for these people and allow them to return to normal life in controlled areas amongst fellow recovered. Coppers could reopen and if you hadn't had the virus you are not getting in :D

People could then decide to get deliberately infected to regain a quality of life and stop going around the place like it's Chernobyl.

Is the plan with the levels if a level 3 county doesn't achieve a reduction in cases then they go to level 4? Or will they just persist with level 3 and hope it flattens?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 92,394 ✭✭✭✭JP Liz V1

Is there any good reason for communions going ahead?
Covid aside it’s hard to justify the indoctrination of children to a fundamentalist religious order, but in light of the current health situation surely this falls into the category of currently completely unnecessary.
Would a 12 month stay of communions and confirmations actually have any impact on anything?

Confirmations here were cancelled for 5th class, 6th class went ahead limited numbers

What ever about the ceremonies no need for the large party gatherings, lavish over the top shindigs, style over substance not giving each other best, real housewives ****e

No because if I gave it to my kids or parents and they died id never forgive myself. Or if I got it and died. It's awful some weeks but it has to be done.

Well Dublin is 2 weeks into the 3 week proposed level 3 status, and things are getting worse not better. I assume if things continue on this path for another week, that's what level 4 is for?

My friend just got out of hospital. This will kill him if he gets it. We have have to do our best to keep this down.
