Unless they want to wait a month where there will be over 1000 cases a day.

1300 according to NPHET in less than a month.

At 4% daily growth the numbers will start to get very high very fast now.

Monday should be a national lockdown announced. At least level 3 everywhere.

Can’t move to level 3 especially with 80% of today’s deaths from the summer.

Government need to close all off licences and restrict the sale of all alcohol in supermarkets etc. This will stop the house parties. All pubs need to be closed down again also.

Who knows. 3 months to notify

Yes true. My point is though that historical reporting is ongoing therefore historical numbers cannot be handwaved away.

8 historic deaths? They should not be doing that at a time when cases are increasing.

That’s wrong but people won’t take the details in just the fear

They announce deaths when the notification comes.

I've called since the start of covid for emergency legislation to make notification happen quicker.

Every few days we hear someone saying publicly that cases aren't a big deal. We need to judge by other metrics like deaths. My response to that is that legislation currently allows 3 months for notification. Its too long a lag for decision makers.

I still don’t see why they should announce 6 denotifications yesterday (in small print) and then include 8 historic ones today (again in small print)

Absolute animals. Why can't the water cannon be deployed on these twits

We are on a precipice now. The writing was on the wall weeks ago and the government wasted precious time with minimal restrictions.

We are approaching peak cases numbers like in April and are on course to surpass them. we could be up to a 1000 cases a day by next week

Level 4 at this stage is probably not going to stop the trajectory.

I'm so pissed off with our government. This could have been prevented.

Because our country as a whole is weak on criminal activity and anti social behaviour. Disgraceful that they don't have the balls of some of our fellow EU countries.

Absolutely NO link whatsoever between schools and terrible numbers.

Children are magical nonspreading humans in mystical pods and bubbles.

Yep 770 cases in University in UK and only 78 had symptoms.

Aren't we soooooooo lucky that we have a magic Covid 19 virus in Ireland that doesn’t effect the education system here.

Government is following NPHETs guidance for the most part. Do you know more than them?

I don't think it's solely due to these cretins obviously but do you not think it plays any part? If they're that lax about the rules in public, what do you think they're like in private? And then their kids go to school after them being on top of others in a crowd without masks.

I actually seen some of the people at this on O'Connell Street earlier. A good few of them were actually wearing masks. Which makes no sense. They're a bunch of clowns regardless.

Is there any good reason for communions going ahead?

Covid aside it’s hard to justify the indoctrination of children to a fundamentalist religious order, but in light of the current health situation surely this falls into the category of currently completely unnecessary.

Would a 12 month stay of communions and confirmations actually have any impact on anything?

I don't think their county by county is working. Ireland is too small for that.

It worked in Kildare, Laois, Offaly and now the case growth in Dublin is somewhat stabilising.

Full lockdown again will cripple us and it's not needed. Not even NPHET are asking for one.

Under icu, hospital and testing, they update the overall number every day around 4.

Why would Leitrim for example with just 8 cases in the last two weeks be put into level 3?

If the country goes to level 3 next week, will it really have a big effect on numbers? Dublin at level 3 for 2 weeks and while numbers might of stabilised a bit will they really reduce in significant numbers while staying in level 3?

Important when seeing high positive test numbers to remember this video's information. And my earlier post re German stats, on the lowering of death rates for all age groups.
We really need a rapid antigen test for public health, and leave the PCR test for clinical/hospital purposes. We need to know who is positive and infectious versus who is positive and not infectious. We need to target resources at the smaller percentage of at higher risk people with the potential of serious illness.
