    610 and 10 deaths.

Those who've been keeping track of swabs v cases announced (I gave up weeks ago) that looks to me like a large backlog through the reporting system. Anyone tracking care to confirm or have the numbers ?

609 positive swabs today, so they may have cleared the retest backlog....

It's inevitable our ICU's won't be able to cope at this rate.

At which rate? Cases? Or admissions to ICU's? Which ICU figures are you using that lead you to know ICU's won't cope?

Dublin - it's two weeks since the restrictions and yet not a sign of improvement.
There was stabilisation in Dublin in the 7 days average around 140-150 cases between day 1 of Level 3 on Saturday 19th to Saturday 26th but new cases upticking again since Wednesday 30th and now today 7 day average of 193

I could see today enough evidence of no masking and social distancing in the shops, DART, tourist areas that too much of the Dublin population still "don't get it" or don't "give a f**k" but that's what the government gets when there is no enforcement

Dublin case rise seems to be beginning to taper off but it is rising sharply in most other counties.

I think a certain percentage of people's behavior will now alter. Its getting pretty serious and we will see that the alternative of little transmission and widespread transmission is worse than feeling safe with restrictions.

Dublin should go to level 4 now

What's going in to level 4 going to achieve if people are saying the cases are as a result of large gatherings? There shouldn't be any large gatherings under level 3 so what makes you think someone will think twice if they decide to move up a level?

    Positive swabs last 6 days - 2586
    Confirmed cases last 6 days - 2707

121 backlog cases or German lab test results added in?

6 weeks ago it was 26 and 4.
4 weeks ago it was 49 and 6.
2 weeks ago its is 94 and 16.
    Today its 117 and 20.

This is the only crumb of comfort I can see. Hopstial and ICU figs were roughly doubling every 2 weeks but that appears to have stopped.

8 historic deaths? They should not be doing that at a time when cases are increasing.

They announce deaths when the notification comes.

I've called since the start of covid for emergency legislation to make notification happen quicker.

Every few days we hear someone saying publicly that cases aren't a big deal. We need to judge by other metrics like deaths. My response to that is that legislation currently allows 3 months for notification. Its too long a lag for decision makers.

Shouldn't come as a surprise, that trend was flagged weeks ago. Basically they nationwide (apart from laois, Offaly and Kildare) cases were growing as fast as Dublin, just a few weeks behind.

One can also logically deduce from this that a good portion of todays and yesterdays death will be reported in a month.

Who knows. 3 months to notify

    For kids yea

Fcuk the families of those kids, and the adults in schools though, they don't matter, plenty of kids getting sick with this virus too

Absolutely NO link whatsoever between schools and terrible numbers.

Children are magical nonspreading humans in mystical pods and bubbles.

Monday should be a national lockdown announced. At least level 3 everywhere.

Unless they want to wait a month where there will be over 1000 cases a day.

Maybe, or go further back than 6 days.

The testing positivity rate was high - well increasing. That is an important indicator.

I'd really hoped it would be November at the earliest we'd see these sort of numbers again. God knows what it will be by November now.

    Lower.

Astonishingly high numbers. People need to take their head out of the sand. No positives to take from this no matter how anyone tries to sugarcoat it. Large gatherings need to stop immediately and people need to take responsibility.

I assume when you say large gatherings you mean house parties ??
