Dublin's Numbers going up but % of national cases going down...

Growth in Dublin is definitely reduced compared to a 3 weeks ago.

Always will be the largest contributor but like you say percentage attributed to Dublin reducing.

8 of the 10 occurred before September.

They are still dead from this killer virus.

    Makes no difference

Are the people that are dying, dying in nursing homes again? That’s just sad! You’d think we’d have that sorted

How? With community spread so high it will be next to impossible to keep all staff free from infection.

Dublin and the rest will be at level 4 by Nov at this rate.

Historic, as in recently enough, not in the year 1937.

    They matter.

    What now for Dublin?

Nothing, it's not growing at as fast a rate as other counties. Reducing as a percentage of national cases

In an awful position now. Deaths will rise pretty sharply now with so many cases

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 3,023 ✭✭✭Gruffalux

Important: 8 of the 10 deaths reported today occurred prior to September 2020.

One can also logically deduce from this that a good portion of todays and yesterdays death will be reported in a month.

How are people specifically mentioning Dublin? Just over a third of cases is not far off % of population

    Level 5.84.

I'd really hoped it would be November at the earliest we'd see these sort of numbers again. God knows what it will be by November now.

They are still dead from this killer virus.

Unless they get denotified at a later date.

Important: 8 of the 10 deaths reported today occurred prior to September 2020.

    Is this true?
Should there be a separate announcement for deaths which occurred outside of the immediate timeframe?

Well that's the big question isn't it. Interesting to see how it pans out.

Where are you seeing that, out of interest?

It's inevitable our ICU's won't be able to cope at this rate.

I’d agree with that. The case figure and amount of deaths announced would put the fear into you.. but then 8 happened over a period not none but before September.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,287 ✭✭✭✭normanoffside

8 historic deaths? They should not be doing that at a time when cases are increasing.

For once I agree with you

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 32,132 ✭✭✭✭is_that_so

Even worse, then why denotify 6 yesterday and announce 8 historic ones today?
Rein in your inner George Lee! We record actual and probable COVID deaths. Legally deaths can be notified up to 3 months. Denotifications are deaths subsequently confirmed as non-COVID. If they don't report deaths as they are notified it fast becomes a "conspiracy" or "lack of transparency". The law needs to be changed to make it less of a delay.

To borrow a phrase used when we were getting around 30 cases a day.

You can't sugar coat those numbers.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 329 ✭✭Coolfresian

Astonishingly high numbers. People need to take their head out of the sand. No positives to take from this no matter how anyone tries to sugarcoat it. Large gatherings need to stop immediately and people need to take responsibility.
