It's Saturday morning you should take a day off. Searching for misery 7 days a week must take a toll.
I don't understand how you constantly call everything that doesn't go along with how you want things as misery.

It's information, you take it in, process it, learn from it if you feel the information is good and then move on.

We all need to take information from all sides and make the sensible choices then.

I'm not a doom monger, I just like to be safe. I'm very hopeful that we'll have some form of vaccine available by March.

Until then with the way many are acting I choose to stay safe.

My family's health is no.1 in my mind, their happiness is hugely important too and I know that I'm doing the very best I can for them in those two departments. After that we'll try and maintain a good financial position but it's not thought of until after the first two things mentioned.

My net earnings are down by an average of €400 per week right now. I'll get by though.

No rest for you though censoring silly expert warnings on this thread.

Why on EARTH would we listen to the WHO? What would THEY know about pandemics?

It must be exhausting stamping on all these facts 24 ×7.
    Thank you for your service..

I have zero respect for anyone that questions the parenting of others based on your own fears.
Here's a question I'd be interested in a response. You take issue with people sending their kids to school, what do you suggest frontline workers do? Stay at home with their kids?
You described the children going to school as Guinea pigs.

    Why?
Should I tell Jack about my 62 year old neighbour who contracted Covid and was back to work after two weeks?

And someone else might have a 62 year old neighbour that died.

88 people die everyday in Ireland based on CSO figures, so yeah most likely.

I know someone who survived cancer.

Therefore cancer is not a serious disease.

Mike Ryan saying "we are in for a hell of a ride".
The only thing you can do when you are in for a hell of a ride.....
    "Strap yourself in" ?

Dr Mike is so totally right, love him, up there with Dr Tony and Dr Phil in my book. The way he ties climate change into the whole scenario and raises awareness is just fantastic.
r Ryan said he was “somewhat cynical or at least depressed at the prospect of whether the world will wake up and we will actually see that epidemics are yet another consequence of our poor planetary and ecosystem management.

Seeing as its a thread on covid I would have thought you would have known what I meant, obviously not, carry on with your deflection.

I heard about someone who died from Covid. Therefore Covid is fatal most of the time.

We can all play that game. The only truth is in the Covid statistics. The mortality rate in people under 45 is very low.

Well you used a hypothetical, I responded with fact . 88 people die each day here so yes it's logical to suggest someone's 62 year old neighbour may have died.

Its certainly a discussion that needs to happen, because as life expectancy across the globe increase so will the overall population. I read a while back that it could reach 10bn by 2030. We can't keep getting older and older at the expense of people who come after us.
Quite simply the planet will not be able to sustain and provide for an ever increasing population. We may have to get used to mass deaths brought on by pandemics, natural disasters, starvation etc as mother nature will ultimately win over mankind.

And yet we're now expected to think that it's tragic when a 90-year-old dies from a respiratory illness and restrict our lives in order to try and extend that 90-year-old's life.

People dying and getting sick isn't a game. All though the nonsense around it has become a pretty sick internet sport.

How do we know your 62 year old neighbour was fine or even caught it? As you keep saying, it's an anonymous internet forum and you've form for lying and it fits your narrative.

Sure just reply to anything you don't want to with a wink, very childish indeed.

It's so funny that someone would say "it's Saturday have you nothing better to be doing" and then spend their whole Saturday nitpicking here.

The majority of your commentary is based on fiction.

Not just for that reason but nor should we just abandon our vulnerable.

We are being restricted to ensure there is hospital capacity to treat those who need it... those who can be saved with hospital intervention.

Look at who were hospitalised from covid as well as those who died. The median age etc is all a lot lower.

You only have to have a cursory glance through the various threads on here to see how lax many people's attitudes have gotten. Not to mention the OUTRAGE

    People are FED UP

Who cares about this virus it ONLY KILLS OLD PEOPLE

    Football is a HUMAN RIGHT

    The economy is doomed.

Fcuk these old people and their vulnerability give me my pint and premier league back now

    What a horrible post

You could but I doubt he'd believe you. We can all invent personas to back up our point.

For instance I can tell jack about my 62 year old neighbour who died of / with / while infected with covid. Then again you don't need to tell Jack, he knows it's serious.

    Hope he gets well soon.

No surprise there. An utterly disgusting comment from poster.

No illness is a joke, covid or cancer.

I used to think that too, and certainly that is one way flu can hit.
But there have been recent studies showing people can get asymptomatic or mild flu symptoms.
Whatever figures we have for flu cases in a year is probably only about half or two-thirds of the real numbers.

"20% to 30% of people carrying the influenza virus have no symptoms."

    https://www.health.harvard.edu/diseases-and-conditions/10-flu-myths

Ah Jesus stop, if that's anything to go by if I get this covid I'm completely f..led. Anytime I've had the flu it's been horrendous.
