Please go away with your political agenda.
And that's from somebody who does not like Sinn Fein or any of the other parties either tbh.

    Why?

You were only ranting about Leo here a while ago.

Political parties are the ones in charge and are getting criticism.

Why are sinn fein immune from it?

Strange headline. What does "preparing" mean - rush around to meet everyone you know for that final party, pack into the pubs for a pint?

Luke is in danger of over-exposure. I think he needs to go away and make a concept album for a while :)

I wouldn't wish any severe infection with covid on anybody, including Mr Trump. However we'll soon see whether he is in tip top health shape as he always held out that he was.

Boris had a tough time of it, and he is a good bit younger than Trump. That being said, Boris is more overweight and I suspect has an alcohol issue.

I wonder if Trump has very early Parkinsons or something. There was some odd involuntary twitching of his arm after the debate on Tuesday night.

As much as I wouldn't wish a severe infection on anybody, I do wonder if Trump were to get a fairly severe dose similar to Boris, it might save a hell of a lot of lives if it means his supporters start taking it seriously.

If he comes out of it without any symptoms and starts making a big deal of that, then it could have the opposite effect and make things worse.

Yeah but you didn't come along and identify a politician to blame, you just threw out a party name. Clearly a political agenda there.

JP morgan forecast Uruguay GDP to grow 4.4% in 2021.

They are doing very well (2061 cases 48 deaths) considering they are sandwiched between Brazil (5m plus cases 140k deaths) and Argentina (700k cases 20k deaths)

Italy reports 2,499 new cases and 23 deaths.

Some experts in the UK reckon the real figure of new cases back in the Spring was 100k per day at the peak. UK is a densely population country and they allowed Cheltenham and Champions League and other games to go ahead with full attendances so its not impossible there were 100k cases a day. Testing was also much less back then.

Nowadays confirmed cases is slightly more accurate. If accepting a fatality rate of 1%, then 100k cases a day would lead to 1000 deaths a day (delayed by a couple of weeks).

Assuming 8k cases a day is actually 20k a day, two weeks from now we will probably start seeing 200 a day deaths. It will be interesting to see how it pans out.

I have my own unscientific rule of thumb when it comes to positivity rates which only works over 1% positivity rate. If the positivity rate is 10%, you probably could multiply confirmed cases by 10 to get actual cases. If its for example 3%, you probably could multiple confirmed cases by 3 to get actual cases. The positivity rate gives you a good idea of prevalence and how many cases you are catching.

Luke is profiting from the crisis persisting, made a nice wedge selling his company the other week. Undermines anything he says about the whole thing.

rubbish. his company was started in 2016 and develops drugs for Alzheimer's, Parkinson's and Cardiovascular disease among others. I could be wrong but i've never seen coronavirus being mentioned. you want everyone to take a vow of not making money until covid is over?

Not everyone is affected by influenza in the same way.

As a point of information, Influenza is consistently disabling to all and sundry when it hits you, I genuinely don't believe you understand how the Influenza A/B viruses affect a person versus most other common contagious respiratory infections. It strikes suddenly and floors you. If it doesn't have that sort of onset it's improbable that it is actually an influenza virus. Even the most healthy will be physically floored by the shaking chills, bone pain, exhaustion, extreme dizziness, fever for at least several days. Most recover completely within a couple of weeks, but of course it can kill the vulnerable and elderly. It will inevitably cause you to be unable to work for at least some days.

An estimated 750 million, or 10 per cent of the world’s population, have been infected by Covid-19, World Health Organisation (WHO) official Dr Mike Ryan has said.

Most cases are asymptomatic, you absolutely could have had it.

As per WHO advice, they only go back 2 days for contact tracing, although it may have changed in the last week or two (much too late). Its possible you were a contact more than 2 days before a positive test. Its also possible they didn't consider you a close enough of a contact eg more than 15 minutes of close proximity.

How do we know most cases are asymptomatic? Last I head was the WHO estimating that 20% of cases were asymptomatic. Now I know that I take what the WHO says with a large dose of salt, but has some other scientific body come out to say that most cases are asymptomatic?

Varadkar's statement that we shouldn't be worried about new case numbers and only about more important metrics like ICU admissions and deaths is the first bit of sense spoken by anyone in government since this all began.
