Not surprised meath cases are rising.

Know of people from Finglas, ballymun who are arriving in Ashbourne for a feed of pints etc.

    Only 10 minute drive.

No you don't. Nice story though.

C'mon, loads until very recently insisted there was no risk in them purely because we weren't tracking back that far at the time.

I thought we were talking about individual super spreaders. What's to stop a superspreader having 2 or 3 events.

You would imagine that if you are feeling like having the test that would determine if you are a super spreader you would stop going to the events until the result. Unless you are from Roscommon.

The granularity of the statistics is becoming ridiculous....One person in a rural townland of one person has it....OMG 100k cases per 100k...nuke the townland!

What's wrong with it? Both governments and the WHO need to push some hope into the general discourse about the pandemic

I wonder is he still going by Mr Fergusons projections? The same expert who predicted 80,000 deaths for Sweden if they didn't lockdown.

I think they need to stop calling them restrictions when they are not backed by AGS powers to enforce and an actual penalty. That bluff isnt fooling ppl anymore.
Enforce restrictions and call the rest advice or guidelines.

playgrounds really busy at the moment, no social distancing at all, where I work everybody has given up on it, shop i go to, people on top of each in the q. Level 3 not working. Surely letting covid run wild will be as bad for the economy as a lockdown? Unfortunately I dont have any answers, open to all suggestions, even somebody on here said about the lockdown for two weeks every other month. that doesnt seem a bad idea, might control it, sure we have to try everything. Im not into knocking anybody's point of view.

Cork looking very bad. Won't be long until we see 100+ daily there. Cluster or no cluster, the only way is up for the rebels and I'd say a level 3 soon. It's clear the restaurants there don't know what to be at.

As opposed to the restaurants elsewhere all over the world?

Great to see Roman Glynn getting some recognition. He wasn’t as popular as Tony but that’s not really important being an acting Chief Medical Officer. I suspect his age and mannerisms were more responsible for this.

He said the facts like they are and pushed transparency. Effectively undermined by some parts of government. Can’t have been easy. I for one think he did a great job given the circumstances.

Do we have more info at the start of his tenancy or at the end? There can never be enough and they need to do more.

For instance in the last two days we learned that one asshole couple went away for the weekend, came back, saw everybody they know and went to a pub/restaurant and resulted in 30 people infected and a business closed.

We also learned one cafe/restaurant in cork led to 56 people being infected.

Judging by some of the adulation online you would think it was the second coming of the Messiah. People have short memories tbh.

    Never go back.
Look at Mick McCarthy or Howard Kendall or Only Fools and Horses.
Or maybe he will be like Gandalf the White.

Meanwhile Dr Glynn plans his trip to Latvia, which will be our only green list country in a few weeks. He is looking fwd to his 2 week pre quarantine.

He came across as a lot more sincere then Tony and many seem to have forgotten what happened under Tony's watch especially the nursing homes. It was him who said visitor restrictions are not appropriate at this time when nursing homes wanted to ban visitors. https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-31000430.html

    Also the cervical check scandal.

And we have another screening crisis around the corner but nobody seems to think that's a big deal. He was in charge when it was all stopped.
